Poll: Best Vacation Spot

Sun Apr 22, 2001 4:06 am

What do you people tink is the best place in the world to take a vacation at?

My favorite is the Hyatt Resort in Cerromar Beach, Puerto Rico. It's a great place to relax and have fun in their pool which is the longest in the world!!! http://www.hyatt.com/puerto_rico/dorado/hotels/photo_a_cerro.html

Koh Samui, Thailand. Truly the most beautiful place on earth.
I used to think the brain is the most fascinating part of my body. But, hey, who is telling me that?

Beach vacation - Barbados (beautiful, small, cozy island and friendly people)

Big City vacation - Paris (sophisticated and filled with world class sites, restaurants, entertainment etc)

Small city vacation - Bruges/Brugge (A medieval town including a draw bridge and moat..)

Specialty city vacation - Venice (every turn is a post card and the Grand Canal is like nothing on Earth)

Mountain vacation - Vancouver & The Canadian Rockies (majestic and seemingly endless)

Cruise vacation - The Eastern Caribbean (just relaxing)

Seasonal vacation - Autumn in Quebec's Laurentian Mountains & New England's countryside when the leaves change

...Just a few spots from my experiences.. If it ever get to go to Asia, Africa, South America and the South pacific/Australia I'll be sure to add more.

For Relaxing- Any atoll in the South Pacific (Bora bora is nice  Wink/being sarcastic )

For fun- hmmm....California or Honolulu

For Skiing- Utah, Salt Lake City. a bautiful area with lots of snow

For Quiet Contemplation- The Grand Canyon, or Alaska

For lost of underwater scenery and swimming- Northern Caribbean/Bahamas

For a unique island experience that's easy on the budget- South/Eastern Caribbean, especially Barbados and St. Lucia.

My Favorites from Each Region-

The Mainland- Sand Diego, and Alaska (Alaska is breathtaking

The Pacific- Bora Bora and the Hawaiian Islands

Asia- The Maldives

The Caribbean- the Virgian Islands- Not too many people and breathtakingly gorgeous, Barbados comes in second

South America- I dunno, never been there

Africa- Never been there, sorry! Big grin

My opinions either come from personal experience, experience of a family member, or from destination I like in travel mags (Maldives)

Australia - everywhere, although it rained all the time i was in Perth. Ayers Rock - cool, Cairns - the best place to chill out although they are all a bit weird and the Great Barrier Reef (Quicksilver!), Sydney - nice friendly people, really nice place and lots to do. Good airport too Big grin

Tunisia - If you wan't to go somewhere different, this is the place. Very hot, sunny and Star Wars Set  Smokin cool. Watch out for the people though, one man came upto me claiming to be my cousin and asked me to take him home with me, I just ignored him  Big grin

Singapore - very nice, clean, tropical place. Lots of good shops and nice resaurants, and the Hotels are fab  Big thumbs up. I had the pleasure of staying at Raffles for a night, i think i will visit again sometime  Smokin cool.

Calgoorlie - Need i say more?  Smokin cool

Top 5 I have been to:

5- Cabo San Lucas, Mexico - Awesome beaches, clear water, not many people.
4- Egypt - WOW, what i can i say? Pyramids, tombs, so much history, monuments, usually very nice people!
3- Cayman Islands - So few people, best beaches in the world, snorkeling is awesome, although its expsensive down there.
2- Scottsdale, AZ - Nice place down there, love the destert, no humidity, We were on the edge of the destert, so beautiful, it was amamzing, and even in the US!

And my number one fav. vacatoin destination is:

1- Tahiti, no doubt! You will never know paradise untill you have been to Tahiti, in my opinion. It is such a wonderful traquill place to vacation. The ocean is so clear, the beaches so soft, its practily like heven!

For a glamorous vacation (if you've got plenty of money) try London, Paris, NYC, or Boston. Of the dozens of big cities I've been to, nothing comes close to those four.
Try the Dorchester Hotel or Mandarin Oriental in London, Hotel Ritz in Paris, and the Four Seasons in NYC and Boston. Just be sure YOU'RE not the one footing the bill  Smile

Go for Tahiti or Bali if you want tropical (I've heard parts of Thailand are great, too).

The Kahala Mandarin Oriental on O'ahu is nice and secluded from the crowds at Waikiki – not to mention it’s a world-class resort. You may find yourself never leaving the resort’s private beach.

Northern Denmark is beautiful in the spring and perfect for a quiet escape. Take SAS from CPH to AAL and navigate your way up to the northernmost tip of the country.

I'd say hit the Swiss Alps if you want a great skiing vacation. Colorado is great, also.

My best advice is to just see everything for yourself. Then you’ll know what suits your tastes.
I didn’t see anything in China or Korea that would warrant a vacation, but to each his own.
I love America. I guess that makes me Bush's poodle, but I'd rather be a dog in New York City than a prince in Riyadh.

Apart from that, I'd say any big airport with loads of traffic suits me fine. Too bad my family always drag me to some beaches and mountains and cities instead  Big grin
