Your Favourite Classic Cartoon

Tue May 01, 2001 1:53 am

Hi guys,

So, yesterday at the pub (bar, to my North American friends), over a pint of Abbot's ale, we started to discuss our favourite childhood cartoons  Insane  Insane Big grin

This has lead me to post this exciting new topic about what YOUR favourite cartoon of all time was/is.

Since I have always enjoyed anything to do with travel, and quality cartoons-my choice goes to Around the World with Willy Fog.

It was simply brilliant!! Big grin Not sure if it was British, but I have inserted a link for you, some captions, and the theme song very catchy!! Big grin You'll need RealPlayer to hear it.

The theme tune:

Enjoy!! Here are the words:

FOG, I'M THE ONE WHO MADE THE BET
AND I KNOW WE'LL BE EXACTLY RIGHT ON TIME
FOG IS MY NAME AND I COULD PLAY WITH MY LIFE IN MANY WAYS
THAT'S WHAT THEY SAY

HERE I AM - A RIGADON
I'M A TICO - D'MASCOTA
IT'S MY TURN - THE GENTLE TOUCH
A ROMY THEY LOVE ME SO MUCH

HEY NOW THEY STORY MUST GO ON
'CAUSE A LOT OF TIME HAS GONE
WE MUST BE READY
TO GO AWAY

80 DAYS AROUND THE WORLD
WE'LL FIND A POT OF GOLD
JUST SITTING WHERE THE RAINBOW'S ENDING
TIME - WE'LL FIGHT AGAINST THE TIME
AND WE'LL FLY ON THE WHITE WINGS OF THE WIND

80 DAYS AROUND THE WORLD
NO WE WON'T SAY A WORD
BEFORE THE SHIP IS REALLY BACK
ROUND, ROUND, ALL AROUND THE WORLD
ROUND, ALL AROUND THE WORLD
ROUND, ALL AROUND THE WORLD
ROUND, ALL AROUND THE WORLD

I like the Bugs Bunny/Daffy Duck/Porky Pig etc. cartoons the most. Those are the classics.

Tom and Jerry is good too.

I liked the Pink Panther as well.

I liked the "Exit, stage left!" character too.

Looney Toons was the best. I love the voices that Mel Blanc does. he's a brillant guy. He does Bugs Bunney, Elmer Fudd, Porkey Pig, he does them all.
I have some funny toons on tape but I don't get to watch any of them anymore. I used to love them.

Popeye was also great too.

My all time favorite: the Tom and Jerry shorts done by the late William Hanna and Joseph Barbera when they were working at MGM. They won a whole bunch of Oscars for their work.  Smile

Remember the amazing The Cat Concerto?

The Jetsons, of course.

The Bugs Bunny cartoons based on operas. The Barber of Seville, the Wagnerian viking opus and the one with the hats. Also Wiley Coyote vs. the Roadrunner. When I was little, I cheered for the Roadrunner. Now I relate more with the coyote. Oh, and anything done by Tex Avery.
