High Power Rocketry....

Sat May 19, 2001 7:34 am

Anyone here into high power rocketry. E power on up. These sure arent the rockets I has when I was a kid.

Some of them are certainly bordering on real rockets with altitudes over 30,000 feet.

I am planning to make one with my friend which used actual rocket fuel in 2 cylinders that mixed. These ones go very high! We are still in the plannning stage and both currently have exams. His dad is a chemistry teacher so he is helping us out!

Yup, I'm into it, but not as much as a friend of mine (I'm quite limited by the entire cash thing right now). He built a remote control cruise missile powered by 2 Gs (I believe), one of which was independantly triggered via the remote for the cruise power. Damn that thing is awesome... Now he's working on one to bust Mach 1 in his spare time. I'm working on a JATO system for one of my R/C aircraft...  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

I'm building an M power rocket. I am getting my level II certification this weekend.

We have an FAA waiver to 10,000 feet. I am hoping to get this thing into the 6,000 foot range.

I want to start experimenting with hybrid motors. Anyone have any experience with hybrids?

Transactoid, if I get a chance later on I'll scan you some pics I've taken of high power rocket liftoffs...they're VERY impressive.
