Spam

Mon Jul 09, 2001 7:23 am

This is two topics in one.

First, is the real "Spam". I'm sure most of you have at least seen it. It comes in a blue and yellow can. I'm not really sure what it's made out of, other than some unmentionable meat by-products and left overs. I've tried it and it tasted disgusting. Have any of you ever tried it?

What about "spam" as in unwanted "junk" e-mail?

Who was the "genius" that first coined that phrase and what was the thinking behind it? Or was it just one of those "cutsie" names given to computer and related items that has no real describing meaning (such as "Adobe Photo" [adobe, BTW is sun dried mud turned into fragile bricks]) or "mouse" (you'd have to be on acid to see any resemblence between a "mouse" and a mouse rodent).

Spam. Yummy. I practically lived on canned spam mixed with canned beans and bread for a few months last year.

My eyes still twitch at the thought.... Big grin

Regards

Ikarus

PS: The only reason I stopped eating it (main ingredients: 99% were found in a pig sty, judging by the taste, between the toes of the hoofs of the pig, 1% were found in the farm's sewage) is that my flatmates hated the smell and threatened violence should I ever eat it again......

A friend of mine is thoroughly convinced that 99% of the beef we eat contains some percentage of Spam. Which is why he doesn't the big deal about Spam being so nasty. By the way, he is also a vegeterian.

Anyway, I think Spam (unwanted email, etc) came from the fact that no one really wanted to eat Spam and was not the choice of food in many common American households. Therefore our unwanted stuff is "Spam." Just a guess.

SPAM is 'Squirrel-Possum-And-Mouse'

NOOOOO!!! Really SPAM means 'spiced ham'

That's what it is, not some mystery meat.

I've never tried it, and dont plan on it anytime soon. Obviously people like, other wise the company woudln't be in business. I have just heard its nasty...so why would i even want to try it? I can hardly eat meat as it is, so i dont think the Spam route is the way for me.
