Best Looking SUVs

Tue Jul 10, 2001 3:09 am

Don't know if this topic has been done before, but here are my top five looking SUVS. There aren't really any criteria, since looks are so subjective, so here goes:

1) 2001 Ford Escape (Perfect length, love that bumper/grill, square-ish back, yet has a hint of "roundness")

2) 2002 GMC Envoy (Finally, a GMC truck that looks nice, and not too squared-off as so many older GMC trucks were)

3) 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer (Same platform as the Envoy, a little square-ish, but decent, nonetheless)

4) Nissan Xterra - refreshingly unbashful about its truck platform, it focuses on the utilitarian side of things, rather that style, as so many SUVs are striving for these days)

5) Cadillac Escalade (absolutely monster grill - I love the Caddy grills, however, the rest of the truck is really too boxy. Maybe if it was a little shorter, and more rounded at the back. The front is good enough for me, though!)

- Other notable favourites:

2002 Explorer (love the new grill, wish the back was more rounded, like the Escape)

Rav 4 (nice overall, but I hate the swinging wheel thing)

I too like the look of the smaller ones better.

1. Mazda Tribute/Ford Escape, pretty much the same vehicle the mazda looks slightly better though.

2. RAV4

3. GMC Envoy

I do not like the Honda CRV, looks kinda weird and boxy.

BMW X5 is rad!

Land Rover Disco is very proper looking. A new Range Rover is coming out in 2 years that should look really badass.

All those Toyota products, no offense, are fugly (including the Lexus RX).

The big Lexus ain't bad, new Mitsu Montero is ok.

Isuzu Trooper is awful. New Suzuiki XL7 is nice looking for price and manual shift!

Jeep Liberty looks ok.

is it just me or does the new Explorer look like the Isuzu Rodeo? (from the front) I like the Yukon Denali and Ford Escape. Honorable mentions to BMW X5 and Acure MDX. I also wish Land Rover still sold the 110's down here. I always loved the rugged simlicity of it.

Well, I'm a minority here because I hate SUVs, but if I had to have one, I'd go with either a Rover or a Jeep Cherokee. And I'd drive the damned thing through the mud, over potholes, hills, and everything else it was made to do!

I hate SUVs too!
Although the ones I listed are the only ones I have respect for. If I lived in rural Montana or had a business that required an SUV, those are the kind I would consider.

Sophie...suv's aren't made for that anymore sadly. They are made for soccer moms to talk on the phone and drive 2 miles per hour.

I'm can't speak for anyone else, but I love cranking my Dad's Ford Escape from 0-60 mph. It leaves most cars in the dust, except for the sports cars, and perhaps, the SUVS with more hp. Although, in several 0-60 mphs, I've out-distanced a QX4, and the new 2002 Explorer. All it takes is a red light, a friendly nod and smile to the next car... and we're off!

 Smile

And yeah, if I had a Lexus, I probably wouldn't go into the dirt trails, unless I had money burning in my pocket. I sure as heck wouldn't trust my Escape off road, because it simply can't cope.

1. 2002 Cadillac Escalade
2. 200X Dodge Durango
3. 2001 Infiniti QX4
4. 2001 Jeep Wrangler (If you consider it an SUV)
5. 2002 Acura MDX

I love SUV's, but I have to agree with Superfly. Sports Cars Rule! Especially the 2000 Dodge Viper RT/10. I should start a discussion about it. Anyway, if the SUV has luxury, I like it!  Smokin cool  Big thumbs up

Best Regards and Thanks

Gordon Vanscoy

PS: You need an SUV in Pittsburgh. It snows like anything here. I just like a little more luxury on the inside, that's all.

I'll vote for the Suzuki Axiom- very menacing front grill, high stance but smooth styling to top it off.

I saw a Liberty downtown today and I must say that they look really good. BTW the Buick Rendez-Vous is not really an SUV, more like a tall wagon.

2000 Dodge Durango 5.9 R/T!!!

My dad currently has that car but once we get a third vehicle, guess what lucky 16 year old gets the Durango.  Smile

As for the use of SUV's, we dont use it much off road, but we do tow with it and find the 4x4 abilities very useful in the snow here in Pittsburgh. It is more than a soccer mom minivan in this household. However I do agree that those people who have no use for SUV's buy a minivan instead. (By the way, our second car IS a Dodge Caravan.)

Muahahha You cant skip this topic without me!

AHEM AHEM!

I hereby disqualify all NON-AMERICAN SUVs except the Land Rover because they CAN NOT! go off-road or haul anything! I consider them a bigger sedan (since all those japaneese SUV are tiny except one or two)

Now for my lidt  Smile

GMC Yukon Denali XL
Lincoln Navigator
Cadillac Escalade
Chevy Suburban
Jeep Cherokee
Jeep Grand Cherokee
Land Rover (The original one!)
Tarpan (A soviet built SUV which was one of the best in the world)
Ford Excursion
Ford Expendition
Ford Explorer
Dodge Durango (I like its new 4.7L engine and the increased tow capacity)

Now for the Japaneese and German SUV!

YOU CANT DO CRAP OFF ROAD OR EVEN HAUL A DAMN BOAT! GET a life You dont buy an SUV to go into the city!

Mercedes ML55 AMG
BMW X5 4.4 (Sports Package)
Cadillac Escalade 2002
Toyota Grand Cruiser(not offered in USA...ive seen them only in the Gulf and Pakistan)

Those are the sexiest SUVs....even to drive all of them are great....the ML55 handles like a decent sports car literally. Interesting how people have mentioned SUV's like Nissan Xterra !! Dam thats one ugly car.
