I am afraid of heights but when I make sure that there is no way I can fall down, I relax a bit. I am also afraid of wasps (those fat red wasps) because I am allergic (sp?) to them and it won't be pleasant if they bite me. Nothing else.

I'm afraid of needles, closed in spaces, and burglars. There's been a lot of incidents in my neighborhood lately, so I'm kinda freaked out.

Well, I'm not really *afraid* of crowds, but I don't like them much. People always blocking me, inadvertant as it may be, delaying my progress. It sort of gets on my nerves. But I love crowds at events though... It makes concerts, games, etc. even more fun.

I'm terrified of needles. In fact, I sometimes pass out when seeing an injection on TV.
I know what caused it, but that does not help.

I'm also not especially fond of crowds. I'm a bit paranoid, so I have trouble being at ease with people all around when there is no clear route to an exit.
Strangely, this does not bother me at all in aircraft or busses (though I dislike trains).
Because of this, I rarely go to concerts or pubs and have not set foot in a cinema in almost a decade.
I wish I were flying

Spiders. I don't mind those tarantula-type big spiders but I hate those ones with thin long legs like the daddy long legs.
I used to think the brain is the most fascinating part of my body. But, hey, who is telling me that?

I don't think it's a phobia, but I hate wasps and bees - one stung me in the eye, and it's not a fun feeling.

Flying.

Seriously, I used to be terrified of flying but I've pretty much gotten over it by reading and learning as much about aviation as possible.

I'm not very afraid of anything involving medicine or medical procedures, although if you try to take blood from my fingertip with one of those "snap lancet" plastic thingies, I will make you take the lancet out and just poke my finger with it. Better yet I'll poke my own finger, thank you.

Let's see... I volunteer at an animal shelter but I will not clean puppy cages. The smell of dog feces makes me sick. It's not really a phobia.

Hmm... I don't particularly like metal grid bridge surfaces, but that doesn't keep me from driving over them...

OK, maybe I don't have any phobias any more.

Ants and any other bug. Sometimes, for no reason, I will hallucinate and think that there are ants on me, and then I freak out.

Argh i hate it when that happens too.

Whats worse (with ants) was i was cycling, and going down a grassy hill to a raised grid which i jumped over, but when i landed my front wheel landed first and buckled, and i fell off.

I was quite badly hurt so i just lay there, i went to take my helmet off when i felt this tickling on my forehead. I quickly whipped my helmet to find it crawling with ANTS!

I had landed on an ants nest and they were crawling all over me

It was horrible, i was feeling them for days.

Its amazing how many people here used to be afraid of flying, i remember going on a holiday to Portugal and i used to cry every night at the fear of flying, not because i thought it was going to crash but just the experience. But when it came to the day i was fine (thankyou Air2000!) and waited for the flight home with anticipation!

Cheers

I was terrified of flying, up until 5 years ago. But when you company sends you on a few dozen trips a year, you kind of get over it. Now I'm as comfortable as riding in a car.

EGGD,

I once sat down on an ant hill. And the person next to me was like "There are ants there." And then I realized these ants were crawling all over my legs! AHH!

Your all going to laugh at me now...

CLOWNS. I positively hate clowns. They terrify me.

Needles, crowds or closed in spaces, public transport (re-crowds), shopping malls (re-crowds), elevators.

I'm scared of heights but love flying, although I sometimes get just a bit nervous on the take-off roll (when I hear the rumble of the wheels underneath going fast). But after that I'm fine and enjoy the rest of the trip.

I am scared of water. Like being in a huge body of water. More specifically, being ALONE in a body of water. So whenever I go to the beach, I always have to make sure that there are people around, even if it's just one person whom I don't know, I feel better.

I'm not too fond of bridges either, especially long bridges. I can drive the speed limit everywhere else, but when I cross a big bridge, I always speed up. The faster the better. Seeing pictures of the Oakland Bay Bridge collapse because of the earthquake in 1989 really terrified me. That's what did it.
Its better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air than be in the air wishing you were on the ground. Fly safe!

I'm terrified of snakes, spiders and heights (especially looking down).
I love flying but I am always a little bit uneasy at take-offs and when the plane is climbing to its cruising altitude. Once the planes is up and flying straight I begin to relax. I don't know why I have these feelings. Confused

I'm not afraid of heights, I'm afraid of edges and falling. I will gleefully go up in a big ferris wheel, but my legs will collapse and I'll hyperventilate if I were to bungy jump.

Spiders, I just rather let the suckers live, mainly because they kill the more annoying bugs.

Closed in spaces. Watch the French movie "The Vanishing" you'll see what I mean.

And although it becomes less-and-less, I still sometimes fear thunder and lightening. Usually the only time I'm scared now is when I wake up to it in the middle of the night.

What is it about spiders? They scare the crap out of me for no reason too! My other fear is no afterlife.
America West:
As for earwigs, I one time repeatedly touched the "pinchers" on one of them, and nothing at all happened. It just opened them up probably to scare me, but never pinched. They must primarily serve as some sort of cargo carrier devices.

Well let's see...

Fear of heights, fear of swimming, fear of neddles, fear of driving and I'm sociophobic only to the point that I can't seem to get a job.

Oh yeah, I have a fear of failure, so I don't even try certain things.

Most people can't help me cuz they "assume" that it's no big deal; that makes them IGNORANT!!!

Now that I think of it, I hate closed, small, dark elevators. I don't mind the glass ones, they give me a feeling of false security because the people outside can see me.
