#1 would be Stay Togther by Suede (The London Suede as they are known in the US). The rest is tough. Here's alist that I think would be on it.

New Order - Regret.
Morrissey - The More You Ignore Me.
Blur - The Universal
Bernard Butler - Tremble (may have been in 2000)
Suede - The Still Life

For some reason, my mind is a blank, but I'm sure I'll think of more as time goes by.

Add these to the list:

The New Radicals "You only get what you give"
Matchbox 20 "Back 2 Good"
Faith Hill "Let me Let Go"
Shania Twain "That Don't Impress Me Much"
????? "Millenium" (The one that has the sound of a Michael Jackson song)
?????"Baby it's too late" (The one that sounds alot like the songs in the movie "That thing you do")

There's a ton more that I can't think of the title or artist, but overall the late 90s, the VERY late 90s, were the golden age of 90 music. Finally it had some class, and now we're back in the pit.  Sad That was some good music.

Strange.

I've never heard of half those groups or half those performers.

Those bands must've been a west coast/California thing.

REO Speedwagon released one of their best works ever in 1991:

The album entitled "The Earth, A Small Man, His Dog, And a Chicken".

Excellent songs in true to REO style!

Why was there like no R&B, Rap, or even Heavy Metal for that matter? You mean to tell me there were no good songs in the 90's frem these types of music?

Apparently a point either lost or ignored is that these are what I think are the best songs, not what the Billboard Top 40 over the last 10 years thinks. Some of the songs I mentioned are indeed very obscure and will never be played on any mainstream FM radio station.

Why did I fail to mention R+B, Rap, Hip Hop or Heavy Metal?

That's right. IN MY OPINION, not a single good song came out of any of those genres.
