Shouldn't Bart Simpson Be 22 Years Old By Now?

Tue Jul 31, 2001 8:13 am

Of course, I don't mean this literally!!

I can see the replies if I chose the "serious" route to this subject ....... "It's just a cartoon, moron!!"

But did you ever wonder what Matt Groening's GREAT program, "The Simpsons", would be like if he did in fact have the characters age in real time?

Bart would be about 22; Homer should be, what?, about 50 or so?? HOLY GRAVEYARD....Mr. Burns, already Springfield's oldest citizen, would be 119!!!

Hey.....Does anyone know how Groening has managed to keep the kids' voices (Bart & Lisa) virtually identical to the voices from the first season in 1989?? Obviously, the 2001 actors doing the kids' voices can't be the same people from 1989! Any idea??

THE SIMPSONS RULE THE TUBE!!!!

I realy think they are the same voices, they only hire new writers every year.

The kids' voices can't possibly be the same actors from 12 years ago!! How? Or do adults actually imitate Bart & Lisa on the show?

They are the same voices! they are done by adults so, Bart Simpson is actually a womans voice! Not to sure about Lisa.

You can tell who is done by who, etc.

Thanks EGGD.........

After posting this, I got to thinking: Maybe adults do in fact do the kids' voices.....therefore they probably are the same people from the show's beginning.

Then I did a basic Simpsons web search....and Presto.....Nancy Cartwright = Bart Simpson!!

EGGD is indeed correct.

Apparently she does several of the kid voices on the show........

Well....let's see now......Bart's birthday must be: May 31, 1979. (Wild guess. Ask Marge for the exact date. Don't ask Homer....he [as you know] is as smart as a donut hole.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy)

These days, voices are digitally enhanced by computers.

My guess, is they digitally enhanced the voices to make them sound like they were in 1989.

I love The Simpsons aswell.

I'm guessing Nancy Cartwright (i knew her name Big grin) also does Nelson Muntz. Can't be bothered to click the link.

The voices are not enhanced, as before 1992 or 1993 Homer (who's voice is done by some bloke) was supposed to sound a bit like some famous American bloke who was a bit of a dunce. But then they changed it to its present state.

Marge's voice has developed more, from a croak to more of a sort of female mafia person Big grin

Maggies i don't notice much difference  Big grin

Bart is much the same, but once more his is more developed from his original, which was very sort of Gullible and stupid.

Lisa sounded alot younger, more like a normal 8yr old when the program started, now she sounds like a woman, but with an undeveloped voice. I don't like her voice now, especially when her and Homer go into those tanks at the weirdo hippy lady shop.

Cheers

The Simpsons is my favorite show, that's all the TV comes on for.

My favorite episode is when Homer takes over the union at work and they all strike.

Lisa's voice is done by Yearley Smith...who is an actress on "Dharma & Greg" She plays Greg's assistant.
Anyone here remember a show called "Herman's Head" some years back?? Yearley was on there too. Regards.

Dan Castellanella (sp?) is the voice of Homer Simpsons. Dan, is in several movies with small roles. Also Hank Azaria is a voice for a character in the Simpsons but I forgot which. He's also in some tv series shows.
