Back in New Jersey, my home state (I live in Hanover, NH for Dartmouth College) I was driving to work one day when a local radio station put on its tapes of Tony Soprano crank calls. For the uninitiated, Tony Soprano is the main character on HBO's The Sopranos, which showcases the New Jersey Sicilian mafia.
In any case, the producers had recorded hundreds of voice clips from Tony Soprano and they had "Tony" call a gun store in Arkansas. The inbred gun store owner was totally clueless to the fact that the person asking him to set up a mafia deal to run guns was actually a figment of Z100's imagination.
It was HILARIOUS.
Has anyone else heard of any other similar prank calls by other radio stations? What shows or movies do they use?
Here are some of my ideas for prank calls:
Gunnery Sergeant Hartman from Full Metal Jacket calls the National Organization of Women.
Bill Clinton makes a call to Britney Spears at home and starts busting a mack on her.
Puff Daddy calls Mike Tyson and tries to incite a gang war. (Careful, the producers REALLY have to identify themselves after that call or Mike Tyson's in serious trouble)
