What Car Audio System Do You Have?

Yo wassup,
i was wondering what car stereos you guys have in your cars?? I have a 1998 mitsubishi lancer sedan glx-i.

My sound system.
Blaupunkt calgary Head Unit - 4x40W
2 x 6.5 inch Blaupunkt splits.
Blaupunkt MPA3 Amp
x1 Reisen 10 inch sub

i currently want to get another Sub and an Amp. Maybe JL audio subs, and a Rockford Fosgate amp.

so what do you have??

I have a 94 Escort, and in it, I have an Alpine CD Deck, 4x40. Attatched to that are 2 Polk 6 inch round speakers in the door, and 2 Alpine 6x9's in the back. In the trunk are 2 10 inch MTX sub woofers that are powered by a Boss 500 watt amp. It works for me.

I suppose nobody has told you that Blaupunkt sucks. So I will. It sucks! If you are big on audio then I would like to know the RMS on that Blaupunkt 4x40W head unit -- it has to be bad. Anyway, I won't have my Ranger much longer... but this is what I have right now:
Kenwood V-6017 50x4
2 Pioneer 4" midrange in the dash
2 Polk Audio 6x9 midrange behind the seats
1 12" Rockford Fosgate sub w/ a RF 750W bridged amp

I'm getting a new car sometime this winter and I will put all new stuff in it. You need to get rid of that Blaupunkt shit ASAP! Smile/happy/getting dizzy

PS: "Yo wassup" is a bit old, don't ya think???

Airbus60. Are you gonna cap me too? I'm an American, I think Blankput sucks, but I didn't say anything. I like Alpine, yet people think that sucks as well. Don't generalize us all.  Big grin

From my own experience with my Blaupunkt Bremen RCM 127 I must say It´s got by far the best Tuner I´ve seen so far. Excellent sound, dual RDS tuners with a big screen and automatic station overview listing, auto-adaptive equalizer, optical changer connection...

The tape drive does suck, I´ll give you that. Wink/being sarcastic But almost everything else actually works very well and the sound quality is fine.
(I could use an external power amplifier, but well...  Smile)

Alpine cassette/radio + 12 CD Changer

Speakers:

2 x 3cm Pheonix Gold Tweeters
2 x 16cm Pheonix Gold Mid-Range speakers
2 x 16cm MTX mid-bass speakers
1 x 16 inch Soundstream SPL 160 sub-woofer

driven by:

1 x 1,000 Watt Soundstream amplifier for the subwoofer
1 x 600 Watt Soundstream amplifier for all the rest.

Additional equipment:

- 3-way crossover
- Bass Cube (frequency gate for the sub-woofer)
- Volume pot for the subwoofer
- Big-ass capacitor
- Very heavy-guage wiring for everything.
- Lots and lots of sound insulation in the doors and other panels.
- Rear license plate is hard-bolted to the mount, because when I cranked it up when I first installed it, the license plate would get knocked out of its mount and 10 feet back

I can only crank this thing up on the highway or in the countryside. The cops would arrest me in town.

But ideal for wake-up music. Bands which I'll crank it up full volume:

- Black Sabbath (with Ozzy)
- Metallica (early stuff)
- Joe Satriani
- Early ZZ Top
- Red Hot Chili Peppers
- etc, etc. (Absolutely no Rap-crap!)

Whatever the hell Audi put in it when they made it and a CD player in the trunk. However, I think I'm going to have to buy a new in-dash CD soon since mine is giving me trouble.

Airbus60, I just thought someone who made this topic would have a decent sense of what a good system is. I can't think of a worse setup then to build it around Blaupunkt equipment. I honestly don't see how me being American came up. Me being American might make me smarter than you, I just didn't realize it until now. So I'll forgive your ignorance. Big grin

1987 Chrysler Lebaron Conv.:
Chrysler Infinity AM/FM CD/Cassette combo head unit. It has a 3 band equalizer and joystick balance control. It is great because I can play both cds and cassette tapes.
6 speaker system by Infinity.



1977 Lincoln Town Car:
AM/FM stereo with quadaphonic 8track player.
4 speaker system. 6" in the lower door for front. 5"x7" in rear. Speakers are Pioneer.
Bring back the Concorde

Us Americans think Blaupunkt sucks because it is in the low price category of all the stuff we can buy here. I don't think we have access to the high end Blaupunkt stuff.

Anyway,

I have a pretty modest system, the kind where I can leave my car unlocked and not worry about it.

I have a Sony CD player with a removable face for the head unit that I've had since 1996 when I was 16. I have a baby 200 watt amp from Radio Shack for my two Pioneer 3-way 6-by-9s in the back and I have two Kenwood I think 3 inch speakers in the doors in the front and that's it.
