Computer Problem

Sun Sep 09, 2001 1:02 am

I have several *.avi files and Windows Media Player will not play them. Codec problem. It can't connect to a download site to download the codec. I've been trying different media players and encoders all morning. Can anyone please help me?

I had the same problem. In tools go to folder options. Go to view, then untick the box that says hide file extentions for known file types. Then rename the file with .mp3 or mpu or whatever you want to change it too.

Yeah its a pain, sometimes the codec download works, sometimes it dosent. You can get the decompresor from other places though I dont know how well/if even it will work with the program. Realplayer might play those avi's since I belive it comes with codec already instaled.

I've tried realplayer and it doesn't work either. Where else can I get the decompressor?

If that doesn't work I'll give you another link.
