What a sad day it was, yesterday. And what sad days are still to come, if the anger and hate of the unfairly attacked nation is unleashed upon people too soon - before the investigations have come to a certain conclusion about the identity of the aggressors. Innocent people would suffer greatly, if retaliation occurs at this early, uncertain stage.
And suddenly, that name "Bin Laden" pops up. He must be guilty, right?
I think it is too soon to blame it on him, or anyone else, specifically. I find it worrying, to say the leasy, how soon the blame finds targets. After the Palestinians (initial suspects) seem to (maybe) be innocent, it comes down to Bin Laden again, as if he was the only terrorist in the world. And I find the bits of information about the investigation so far a bit odd. So the terrorists leave a flight manual for the plane in a van, together with the Q'uran, huh? And two bags that were supposed to be on one of the planes, but did not make it on board, contain fuel calculation manuals for a 767, and measurement equipment??? Is this a joke? A game of "How to frame evil Arab terrorists"?
Put it like this: If someone wants to hijack and crash an airliner, how likely are they to need fuel calculations for their plan? And how likely are they to leave a Q'uran somewhere (after all, when do they need it more than in the hour of their death)? And how likely is it that the random inefficiency of an airport luggage system would leave just their baggages on the ground?
I don't say it wasn't Bin Laden. I don't say it wasn't some Arab fundamentalists. But until some more conclusive evidence has been found, I don't blindly believe it was them, either. So Bin Laden had family members in Boston? So the passenger lists of the planes contain some names vaguely connected to him?
Find the bodies, examine the teeth, do a DNA analysis. Who says it really was them, and not people with incredibly well faked papers? And why are people suspected of terrorism and connections to Bin Laden allowed to fly within the USA at all? Shouldn't every computer reservation system in the world, every passport controlling computer at any airport, have all alarm bells ringing when five suspected terrorists check into a plane under their real name???
Maybe I don't trust the media, or the scarce information available as of now. But right now, it's high time for conspiracy theorists - because things look too fishy and too simple to be true. Maybe in a few years things will look clearer.
So who is actually waiting with their judgement, and who is already absolutely convinced it is a certain group?
PS: I would not mind if Bin Laden is eradicated - after all, the bombings of the embassies alone would justify that. But I am against blaming everything on him. It is better to investigate more thoroughly, to see whether it really was him behind all of this.
PPS: Anyone else constantly thinking of the movies "Under Siege" and "The Long Kiss Goodnight" when hearing the news? I am.
