Is We Go To War, I'm Signing Up!

Thu Sep 13, 2001 8:28 am

I'm currently 18 years old, and a senior in H.S. If we do go to war, I'm joining the military and will do my part to defend freedom. How 'bout you?

Well gee, I would too, but see, I can't simply because I'm gay, and our fabulous goverment has said I'm not allowed to fight to defend my country and freedom.

Seems like an incredibly stupid policy right now, don't you think? (as if it wasn't incredibly stupid before this all happened)

What about Clinton's "don't ask, don't tell" policy?

You can volunteer...if a draft isn't used.

What about it? If somebody asks me, I'm not lying. That's not what freedom is about: hiding and lying about who you are.

I'm a hemophiliac who narrowly missed being infected with AIDS. I can't go to war. But I want to. Perhaps I'll take a similarly stressful job in a noncombat role.

damn. I'm mad as hell.

If my Grandpa was a US Senator and my Papa was rich and powerful, I'd go in and learn how to fly old outdated aircraft so I wouldn't have to serve like the poor kids. I would also get free flight hours and not have to leave the counrty.
I just may be selected President of the US too!  Yeah sure

Seriously though, I am too old now (28).
If we do go to war, I doubt a draft would be issued because Afganistan is small potatos.

How can you talk about President Bush like that?

Do you know how much intelligence and BALLS it takes to be the President of the United States?

What kind of American are you if you don't stand behind Bush during a time like this?

I'll be right behind you. I hope we do retaliate. I'm sick and tired of my country becoming a pin cushion for these bastards.

We better as hell retaliate. This is an act of war, one worse than Pearl Harbor. Those were innocent CIVILIANS that died. I'm for an all out military campaign against whoever is responsible. If I was 2 years older, I'd enlist.

There've always been innocent people killed in wars (Civil War, Vietnam, Gulf, WWI and II...).
If the USA will begin what will certainly become WW III there will be even more innocent victims than in this disaster.
Not only those who get killed in war are victims but also their families and friends who are left behind grieving.
War would definitely bring more devastation and sorrow on both sides.

The USA should track those responsible down with their intelligence agencies (they have two, I believe) and police and punish them by law.

A Third World War should be prevented by all means!!!

Think about how it feels like to lose a loved one.... before you call to arms.

F*ck goiing to war... I say America parks a single 726 class boat in the indian ocean and just watch it unload all the 24 of those "multiple personality" rockets all over afghanistan. I'm deadly serious too. After what they did to Rachael & more than 30,000 people here, I say war is letting them off too easy. It gives them a chance to surrender or be taken prisoner (something we didnt have on tuesday, that's for sure.) No, not war, just call it what it is. Rage.

Are none of you actually hoping for a peaceful solution? You know, where the terrorists are actually brought to trial? It is one thing to accuse them, and then bomb then, but their guilt is never proven. Not like if it was proven at trial.

And those of you who are wanting an all-out assault against a whole country, may want to stop and listen to yourselves. The way you are talking is no better than those who have committed these horrendous crimes in this instance. Wishing for the death and annihilation of innocent people is disgusting, and puts you right "up" there with them.

I didn't know there were so many homosexual people here. I don't have a problem with it at all, but I didn't expect so many!

Aciatsiya, with all due respect, I don't think a peaceful solution is a realistic option. We are faced with two real options. Either eradicate the terrorist threat for good (complete and decisive strike on the network and countries that support them), or we can wait for this to happen over and over again, probably with even worse consequences. Those are the only two choices. Trials and punishment to individuals will do nothing to stop this again. You can step on as many roaches as you want, they still infest your house. You have to destroy the nests if you want to really protect yourself from them. I am 100% confident that the US military will not target civilians, but we all know there will be incidental deaths. Its unfortunate, but when those animals took over the controls of the Beoing aircraft, that is the only options they left us with. As I said before, this isn't just about avenging New York and DC. It's now about protecting LA, SF, Chicago, London, Paris, Sydney, Berlin, etc, etc. We have to do the right thing here whether its ugly or not for the sake of all civilized people that weren't executed.

I'm with you guys. I'll make sure I'm right behind the fattest A.net member volunteer.

Seriously, aren't we getting a little too carried away here. Please take a time out and recollect your thoughts and emotions...and leave the fighting, if any, to the professional warriors.

Its amazing what kind of idiots this situtation brings out. A war would kill more innocent people! Regardless of nationality, race, religion! Why doesnt anyone realise that? This topic has gotten way outta hand, and was from the beginning. I know a lot of people died on Tuesday, but that doesnt mean that more people have to die.
