World Trade Center Building Questions

I have heard before on TLC that the WTC was built to withstand the impact of a Boeing 707. If this is true, how would the incident be different had the planes been 707's or smaller jets?

It wasn't the case of the planes--It withstood the planes--It was just the heat that melted the steel frame from all the jet fuel that it collapsed 107 floor onto the 106th and so on.

If you get any kind of plane coming head on a 500 mph (source: CNN), most likely it'll do a lot of damage.

As Delta717 said, it was not the initial impact that caused the collapse. That was the intention to use all large, West Coast-bound flights. They chose planes that would depart airports near New York and Washington and would be loaded with fuel. They knew what they were doing.

By the way, just to show you how strong the building were, the impact of wind alone on a high wind day is much stronger than a 767 slicing through it.

Don't 767s carry more fuel? And I think they are larger, too.
