Army Drafting

Sat Sep 22, 2001 12:30 pm

I have a question:

I have heard that drafting probably wont be done for this "war". However, I was wondering what qualifications you have to have.

Do you have to have perfect eye vision?

If you have flat feet, can you be drafted?

Anyone have answers??

I don't have an answer but let me say this ..

NO TO DRAFT.

You cannot force people to join a service and then put their lives at risk. That has to be their own choice.......

If you are the only child in the family, you cannot be drafted. I don't think that they will draft you if you have flat feet either (just what I've heard).

I agree with ADG. It should be a choice.

As far as health matters, if you can pass the miltary physical you cna be drafted.

For other matters, yeah, I heard if you are the only child, or if you are currently in High School.

If you're in college, you are allowed to finish the semester.

I don't think I could ever bring myself to killing anyone unless it was for self defense. I am against the draft anyway.

RE: ADG Or Any One Else Who Dislikes Action

To all you that have posted who dislike action.what pure pitty from you!!! Angry."Oh I hate the draft,oh I don't want to go to war".What a bunch of crap. You just want some one else to fight for your freedom!!! You know what, if I went to war and they gave me a piece of paper that said the names of the people that I was fighting for and your name was on it and every ones else to who dislikes fighting for what they have,I would cross out your names and light it on fire and say "screw you".It does not matter wheather you are here or over in Afghanistan,or for that fact any where in the world. You are at war!!!! cause you know what the next attack could be a place where you are at and you die.Just wait you will feel the breeze. All those people died for now reason. And to be honest with ya I could not care less how many people die over there that support terrorism or that hate the USA for that fact.

yeah, so anyways.

If there is a draft, its gonna be a bad one, because when carter came into office, he made it so even if your in college, you must go to war if your drafted. I think that if you're in school, you shouldnt be forced to go. But if your not in school, thats a different situation. Students will have a VERY difficult time if they have to go to war. But in this case, a draft probably wont be necessary since SO many people are so enthusiastic about voluntarily fighting. But if you're not a student, hey, its your country, go fight for it.

NWAirlines, you might want to check on what you think can and can't be done as far as the draft is concerned. If you are an only child you CAN be drafted but not sent into a combat situation. I say this from experience, my husband was drafted in Viet Nam, and he is an only child.

BryanBecker-Thanks for what you said. I am so tired of hearing people whine about "somebody should take care of all these terrorists" but when push come to shove, they aren't willing to step up to the plate and do their part to help. Yes, I would be bothered if the draft were reinstated, because I have a 22yr. old son, but I also understand that something need to be done to stop this SOB.

I don't believe in the draft, but if there was a serious need for servicemen, I would do my part.
If I ever felt reluctant, I would remember the families of those who needlessly died in the attacks.

As far as the only-child-in-the-family rule, that must be new. My dad was drafted years ago and he is an only child.

NWAirlines-no problem at all! Just pleaase don't do anything rash, OK?

SophieMaltese-what you said about your dad and about my husband is the case unless o curse something has changed, but I don't think that it has.

DeltaOwnsAll- I haven't a clue about your being drafted, especially being put into a combat position, but just remember, there are many places other than
combat to serve if God forbid anything does happen.

But let us all hope and pray that it doesn't come to any draft.

Sorry for the confusion but when I did the bio I kind of blew it! Definately female, that is why earlier I said that my HUSBAND had been drafted during Viet Nam and is an only child so could not be sent into combat.

If you have flat feet, you won't be drafted. My 5th grade teacher's brother got out of Viet Nam because of that.

Yea, I thought you were, but some people on the forum are gay, and it is possible to be gay and have a son...if you adopt.
