I saw part of the movie once, and it was DARN good! one of the best things is that there is no dubbing; the translation is in subtitles. anyone else like this Epic Japanese movie?

Isn't the Magnificent Seven based on this Akira Kurosawa film?

I heard something about that

speaking of magnificent 7, that's our school fight song (marlboro cigarettes used it in their commercials, and we are Marlboro)

I thought so. Thanks Klaus.  Big thumbs up

Lubcha132,

That's a great theme. There are quite a few of them from classic films, i.e. The Great Escape, Col. Bogey March from Bridge Over the River Kwai, Somewhere My Love from Dr. Zhivago, Exodus and many more.  Smile

that was when music was written for the movies and popular music wasn't just taken for the soundtrack.

I'll have to double check it but I belive Bernstein wrote the theme songs to both the Magnificent Seven and The Great Escape.

This movie is excellent, like all Kurosawa's movies (you should see Kagemusha).

Correct. Bernstein (Elmer, not Leonard  Smile) composed those songs.

Great film. I happened upon it ( luckily, close to the beginning ) turning the TV on one rainy day. What started out as a few curious minutes of attention turned into 3+ hours of enjoyment.
