Surprised At What Took Is Going On/Peace Ralleys

Tue Oct 09, 2001 3:40 am

Listening to the radio last night people where calling in, and it amazed me how many said they where surprised by that attacks on terrorism. It was not if but when justice would prevail!

Also on the radio (I don't have a TV  Sad ) when this tragedy unfolded they where all saddened, and said something needed to be done. But what is up with all these peace rallies (I am sure you guys in the US have them too), you show your support then, but now when we are securing it will not happen again, you want to back down and suggest talks!

To be honest I am currently not sure what I am. After hearing Arnolds speach on Leno (I think it was) where he said 'I have never been more proud to be an American', made me realise I was more American then I thought, but I also feel British! BUT RIGHT NOW I AM JUST PROUD OF ALL OUR (see where it was going!) MEN AND WOMEN IN THE FORCES MAKING THE WORLD A SAFER PLACE.

Man I look stupid, my topic does not evem make sense, you will have to excuse that I just woke up from my afternoon nap!
I originally started to write:
Surprised At What Took Place Last Night/Peace Ralleys

But it did not fit, so I tried to change it too:

Surprised At What Is Going On/Peace Ralleys

But I had a brain fart!

I´m pretty sure people attend these peace demonstrations for many different reasons; And I even sympathize with many of them (you can beat me up later Wink/being sarcastic).

I think part of the reasons is that Bush and many others have said quite a few dumb things along the way (among many good ones, though). There´s a lot of fear about blind rage and revenge driving the world into chaos.

I don´t believe that will happen; The actions taken so far and the more recent official statements don´t look too bad, I think.

But much of what many demonstrators request will be necessary over the coming years. There will have to be a lot of negotiations and diplomacy in addition to all the other measures.

I´ve also had a few discussions with pacifist people through these weeks; And although I disagree with them on quite a few points, I think they´ve got some valid ones as well.

They´re just the other side of the coin, opposite those who don´t think of anything else but "kill, kill!"

Isn´t it great that we´re strong enough to endure different opinions?!

Without that second post I could just have politely looked the other way...  Wink/being sarcastic

Klaus, please share some of the in-depth point-of-view of the pacifists. So far, I have heard no plausible alternatives to military action. All I have heard is recycled hippie rhetoric. If there is any other options, practical or not, I'd at least like to hear them. Remember, we not only want justice, but prevention to future attacks. Thanks!

That´s exactly my point. I´ve said it in my previous post here: http://www.airliners.net/discussions/non_aviation/read.main/113630/

Force is necessary, as far as I can tell. But it´s still important to see that it´s not enough, either. I think that both extreme camps are pretty useless in this crisis. But both moderate sides are necessary.

....protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.

My last post doesn't contradict that! I'm just expressing my opinion that these people's freedoms are WAY above them and that this great nation is too good for them!

I feel like going downtown to confront these damn anti-American Americans and tell them what the real story is. Twisted people, they are.

Your Republic wouldn't exist if it weren't for protests. Don't forget that.

N400QX, here's some inspiration. This is a fanatical protester in Pakistan burning the American flag, who went and caught himself on fire.

Someone tell this dirtbag that this is a 'no smoking' area!!!

If they had been the staunch, upright conservatives of their day, they would have saluted the flag of their King, of course! Big grin
