I have been thinking lately of what should be done as a memorial for all the lives lost from the events on 9/11. I was kind of disapointed to hear plans of building four 50 story office buildings in it's place and having some sort of memorial in the center. For me I don't think that has enough meaning. I thought of an idea that I wanted to share with you all and get your input on it.
I think they should build an identical world trade center only make them hollow inside. This would make the rebuilding as fast as possible and cheap. My reason behind this is for two reasons.
1. Who would want to work in the same spot where 5,000 people once died?
2. It's show's the world and especially the terrorist that we restored the skyline of New York and did it fast.
The cost for the construction could be made from donations. Since these buildings are not going to be occupied, the cost would be far less then the originals. If everyone gave some money for the fund, the cost could easily be made up quickly.
Now for the good part.
At night light up 6,000+ (what ever the total number of deaths are) windows at night as a tribute for the lives lost.
Red lights for the lives lost in Washington.
White lights for the lives lost at the WTC.
Blue lights for the lives lost in PA.
The monument would have so many meanings. For one it's a symbol of how many lives were lost not only at WTC but for all areas effected on this terrible day. Those lost souls will shine bright and watch over the city of New York in patriotic glory.
What better way to expess the loss of the vitims, restore the skyline, and with the buildings back quickly and blazing in red, white, and blue at night send a message to the terrorist saying Fu@k you, Were back and now more united then ever!
Obviously there will need to be 50 story buildings surrounding the twin towers, or new buildings built father away to accomindate the lost office space that will need to be filled.
What are your thoughts?
