Ya!

I've been a fan of C&H since the mid-80's. I think I have all the cartoon books as well!

That's all I used to read back in H.S. instead of my textbooks. I practically memorized Calvin & Hobbes.

I like Foxtrot too, and Boondocks, with that kid that despises the Bush admin.
Still, Calvin and Hobbes wins by a long shot... I like the one where he offers a bowl of Tapioca, representing his brain, to the TV. Big grin

My father went to school with Watterson...Kenyon College in Gambier, OH. Interestingly, another great comic illustrator, Jim Borgman of the Cincinnati Enquirer, went to Kenyon as well.

Bill Watterson is a genius! The topics he tackles range from our society's biggest issues (environmental degradation, the commercialization of the mass media), to the overlooked joys of our daily lives (the beauty of friendship, the magic of the changing seasons). Most importantly, his work is always incredibly funny! Who else could have combined philosophy with humor to create such an addictive work of art?

Calvin helps us to relive our fondest childhood experiences, the memories we thought were unique to us, but are actually shared by children the world over. Combine this wonderfully-observed nostalgia with Watterson's intelligent insights into our world -- and you have the best comic strip of all time.

C & H manages to be funny as well as nostagic, melancholy, provocative, insightful, and thought-provoking. Most of all, it is an incredibly PERSONAL work. And that's what it makes it so magical!

What about Calvin's snow sculptures? I HATE winter with the cold, snow, and short days. But when Calvin and Hobbes was being published, I couldn't wait for winter to see what sculptures he would plan! My favorite is the one where he built one snowman to look like he had been hit by the parents car while 3 others looked on in horror. I laughed my butt off for DAYS over that one!

Calvin is a precocious punk, and hobbes is equally entertaining. =)

I like the strip because, to me, it represents underappreciated/misunderstood geniuses/artists.

While Calvin may not do so well in his studies or has a love-hate relationship with his parents, he is amazingly creative, has a good heart, and has a grasp of what really matters and is truly important in life. Plus, you know his parents would have no other son.

I love C+H cause it puts everything in perspective.

My favorite strip is the one where Hobbes and Calvin argue about being cool.

Hobbes: Why do you look so bored?
Calvin: The world bores you when you're cool.
... Hobbes: Here's a sombrero and mickey mouse pants.
Calvin: What?! You can't wear that!
Hobbes: What good is being cool then, if you can't wear mickey mouse pants and a sombrero!

(or something like that)
