Anti-Twotter Bias On A-net!

Wed Oct 24, 2001 12:20 pm

Hmmmm... me thinks something in here stinks. Four good threads in just about as many days have gone ~poof~! How could this be? I have been here for almost a year. I have a jam packed full respected by list. My posts are stimulating and sometimes even informative. I think that one of these new "moderators" of our furor Johan has something against me. Could it be censorship based on a disagreement with my opinions? God forbid that all you self proclaimed open minded touchy feely people out there would silence someone simply because you didnt' agree with him. Or is it that staring truth in the face is too much to bear for the unenlightened? I would tend to think the latter is true. I am not one to whine about having my posts deleted, I thrive on controversy. I would however like to invite the anonymous coward who would delete my arguments rather than respond to them come forward and give reasons for his behavior. Any one of you got the guts?

Good question, gentlemen. I'm beginning to think it's mor of an Anti-American bias myself. But I don't think we'll ever find out, to be honest.

Just kidding.

Hey Pilot 2113,
how is Purdue? I still want to go there for school. Maybe inspite of these economic down times in the aviation industry, people my age who wanted to be a pilot will now be turned off.

Just a guess on my part.

I hope the Administrator is actively holding the moderators accountable. If your post is deleted, you should recieve (or at least I have in the past) a notification stating WHY. If not, I would definately take this up with the cheif.

This is exactly what I was fearing with the introduction of new moderators. They should be on call to delete mainly the defamatory garbage that occasionally showed up like that racist one a couple weeks back. All the other stuff that is trivial should be left up to the senior moderators.

Twotter,

Frankly, I couldn't agree more. I noticed that your thread about "gay" threads prospering was neatly disposed of - uncharachteristic of truly "open-minded" people.

Keep on keepin' on.

Wow, I must have missed the news Johan picked the new moderators. Oh well. Twotter, I agree 100% with you and I have noticed threads missing too. Particularly the thread about the gay threads... I really wanted to read replied to that but when I looked for it *poof* it couldn't be found & I don't know what grounds it could be deleted on. I think there has been a little too much censoring lately and it needs to be toned down. My $.02  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

One more note, we shouldn't blame this on Johan.

Earlier, Tsully and I were discussing why his topic had been deleted, and we both got deleted for it for no reason at all. So, we both ended up emailing Johan about it and he kindly brought our names right back. Johan isn't the type of person who deletes the posts he doesn't agree on. It's got to be one of the forum mods.

Notice, I did not blame it at all on Johan. My opinion of him is that he would prefer not to have to trifle with such silly things as what peole in here get upset with me about. I am quite certain it is a faceless coward hiding under his moderator cloak. Show yourself coward!

Hello,

No new moderators have been added yet, there's still just me and Gary.

Twotterwrench, you've got a lot of posts removed as you cannot express yourself in a civilized manner, there's always lots of harsh language and personal attacks. Simple as that. At least that's why I have been removing some of your posts. This you should know as there's always automatic emails sent out explaining the reason for a particular deletion (your email address in your profile must naturally be working). If you learn to express your views in an non-flamebait fashion I promise you will have no further problems with the administrators of this forum, now or in the future.

The same goes for N400QX and Alpha 1 and The747Man, another bunch of known troublemakers. Things might change when the new moderators are introduced but personally I'm getting tired of moderating this forum for hours a day when my time is better spent elsewhere. Respect the rules of the forum or leave.

After all, you know why you post here, it's because we do a good job moderating the place. There's few forums on the net that can compete with us when it comes to high quality discussions, at least if you consider our large and diverse user-base.

And Alpha 1, I've heard that anti-US argument before, it's old. If you believe that, I suggest you leave and join some other forum where you think the moderators are more pro-US. No one is stopping you.

Regards,
Johan Lundgren

I appreciate the reply Johan. However, other than a few exceptions where I feel I have been provoked, I don't see that I regularly behave as I have been accused. I shall attempt to be more careful of that in the future. I should dearly like to point out that the things you accuse me of are quite easily applied to those who often accuse me. I rarely suggest a post for deletion unless I find it vulgar. I would hope that the standards you apply to my posts could perhaps be applied to those who post in contrary opinion to mine as well. Good day sir.

Johan, it's good to get a reply on this issue rather than just have it be deleted. It's your forum and you should run it the way you want, I take back what I said about over censoring. I just wanted to let you know the reply is appreciated and I am sure many share that feeling. Big thumbs up

When the grim reaper arrives at your door for the ULTIMATE DELETION - he may also appear "faceless". Although we may not like it, anonymous acts will destroy what we may believe to be our "incredible wit of intelect". Cancer, old age, violence, forum administrators, and whatever else. How can they be stopped ?

One thing that never ceases to amaze me...

Topics regarding such subjects as prostitution and someone obviously playing a prostitute (I'm In Trouble, Hustler) are not removed. Yet opinionated topics regarding VALID subject matter are removed simply for their editorial content. Unbelievable.

We'll just have to be more 'liberal-acting' with the suggest deletion button!  Big grin  Big thumbs up

Personally, I have only been using it in the past for getting rid of vulgar things like Twotterwrench mentioned and also for things clearly misplaced in the wrong forum.

Now I am going to use it like my own personal 'CENSOR' button to get rid of things I don't agree with if I can find them in violation of the rules in any way.

Administrator- I think this is going to increase the workload to maintain this forum. Sorry about this, but rules are rules.

I agree, mls... gotta uphold the rules of the forum. My rare use of the 'suggest deletion' feature is over, too. If others are going to whine and complain and get posts deleted they don't agree with... well two can play at that game.

Uuuggghhh... I'm so frustrated. I'm going to go listen to Michael Savage.

Hell yes, N400QX. I copied the furum rules http://www.airliners.net/discussions/rules.main?confirm=no to a text file on my desktop so I can be prepared to quote the rule in the "Comment" field in the suggest deletion box. I'll have a field day with the "criticizing of others" rule.

Guess why I post here, not because of the moderating of the place but because I enjoy exchanging opinions with other people. As far as that goes, everyone should be able to put up with flames. What I mean is that I'd rather read a few uncivilized posts just to know that person's opinion than delete them.
In a way, moderation is a euphemism for censorship, and we live in a society which has freedom of speech (in most countries, I suppose Sweden, too?)
Just my two cents,

This is interesting to read!
I can admit, that when I became a member here on A.net, and Twotter was joking around with me in a hard way,It pissed me off! But when I found out that it only joking, I could joke back.
I think people (don't meen Johan) get upset cause they just don't know. Understand me?
Things we don't understand scares or upset us in one or the other. I think it comes down to knowledge!

Zach, did you notice one thing on that list that was put out? The 4 people branded as "troublemakers" were all Americans. Coincidence? Maybe. But with due respect, Johan, what about "troublemakers" like ADG, Hepkat, OO-AOG, and the like, who always fan the flame of anti-Americanism on here? Respectfully, I don't see that me, Zach, Twotter, are any better or any worse then those people, yet we get singled out? Is Anti-Americanism acceptable, while standing up for our country considered "troublemaking"?

Twotter, Alpha. I have learned to save my breath, worring about things like this. I had a post and or topics removed, and was emailed a bacis reason why, as well as tips to make me a "better" poster. What a crock that was. I emailed back, in detail explaining my posts, as well as being who I feel a good poster on the forums, and I never received a response. Why?, probably because it was inarguable. It's just a matter of how one person wants to see you. I enjoy your posts, so keep them coming, and if they get deleted, screw'em, and post more.

Hmmmmm......

Twotter:
Will you stop your bellyaching?!

You sound like one of those as Hairyass would put it "God damn liberals" who are always complaining about some biased based on opinion, race, religion or gender!
Me and many intelligent minds on the forum have let you fart-out your right-wing B/S and just ignore you.
You have every right to make a fool out of yourself as you always do!
Now whining about not getting attention is downright petty and childish!
What do you want?
A recount of all official users here?

You better be happy Johan deleted my last post

This thread is still here... How come????

No criticizing of other users or posts!
If you have a problem with another user in the forum or if you dislike some of the posts, use the "Suggest Deletion" button! If you don't like that, you can e-mail your humble administrators on the issue. You do not and I repeat NOT post a message on how you find the topic or user irrelevant/boring/childish or whatever. Topics dealing with other topics or users (and that includes yourself) will be deleted and the poster will risk being banned. Remember that a topic that is replied to is automatically moved to the top, so don't reply unless it's a worthwhile thread.
