I'm Still With Ya, George...but...

Fri Oct 26, 2001 11:03 am

Here's my first criticisms of the post 9/11 Bush Administration:

1 -Less Ashcroft. Less Rumsfeld. These guys aren't very photogenic OR reassuring, and they're becoming tv camera pigs.

2- Shut the Postmaster General up...or shut the Postal System down. The guy goes on national tv and says he cant make any 'guarantees' that the postal system is safe from a mass anthrax distribution. Fine. Then shut it down until youve got a plan. This stuff is WEAPONS GRADE....it's THAT bad. I just hope thousands of new cases don't pop up in the next week from mail that got bumped around with all the anthrax letters.

3. Stop telling me I'm safe while Cheney sits out under a million tons of granite at Mt. Weather.

4. Why do I have to find out from a MIDDLE EASTERN website (then BBC, then finally USA Today) the much-needed news that 22 al Qaeda bad guys were sent to meet Allah by a bulls-eyed US bomb. Are we being 'sensitive' because 19 of them were Pakistani, and we're not supposed to hurt their feelings right now?

I need the same George Dubya of "The Speech", George Dubya. I need you on tv telling me the truth, even if it hurts. Dont need to know about Special Ops movements. Dont need to know about what the worst-case-scenario guys over at Rand are telling ya. Just give me the basics. Take a page from FDR, whose "Fireside Chats" soothed a nation through desperate times. Be there for us. You've proven you can.

Heavymetal:

1) I agree. Perhaps some eye-candy like Condi  Big grin

2) That's a tough one. I think shutting down USPS is a bad idea, but I don't have any other ideas. I suspect the mail bumped around has already been delivered anyway, but I'm sure there's more out there.

3) Disagree completely. Just because we are safe, doesn't mean he is completely safe. I have no problem with securing Cheney one bit!.

4) I can't comment, because I do not watch BBC nor surf Arab sites.

Your last comment was a toss-up. With the length of time this campaign has been promised to require and the tight-lips on special ops, I wonder if constant speeches would get redundent and actually lower morale. I, for one, am being patient as it was asked of me, but a lot of people will expect a steady flows of new news..

I agree with your observations. BTW, I live about 10 miles from Mt. Weather in Loudoun county, VA. How did you hear about the supposedly "secret" location where Cheney hides?

Stretch....

Too many spy novels. Mt. Weather has made its way into more than a few. And one search on Google dot com and you'll actually find the FEMA home page for the site. Indeed, at the risk of setting off a bunch of conspirists, go to the following site:

http://www.sema.state.mo.us/iemccc.htm

...scroll halfway down and check out the instruction course set to begin for state FEMA officials at the Mt. Weather site on September 10TH.

SSSSSpooky.

Plus since they turned Greenbriar into a tourist attraction, it seemed a logical guess as to where the Veep is.

Although I imagine they're shuffling him place to place....Cheyenne in Colorado Springs is another logical guess. Also the old SAC bunker at Offutt in Omaha.

At any rate, the facilities might not withstand a direct Soviet ICBM hit but they can easily handle bio-terror.

Cheney was at a speech yesterday where he (again) said expect more attacks. This is an area where the government I think is being too vague. Give us at least an idea of what to look for....truck bombs? Random devices in public places? .....the government must keep certain things top secret, I know, but they DO have 280 million potential reporting agents out here. In the new war, they'll need us.

I agree, Havymetal. Less Rumsfeld, more Bush.

For that matter, more

BLAIR

Blair is the smartest one in this game in my opinion. He's telling everyone "We WILL capture Osama bin Laden no matter what it takes, and will continue operations in Afghanistan until the Taliban is toppled."

Rumsfeld: "Well, we can't make any guarantees, it's beginning to look unlikely that we will in fact capture Osama Bin Laden, though we have hopes of toppling the Taliban."

Bush: "The evil men who did this will not get away with the atrocites thay have committed, we will take action, we will not falter, we will not fail. We will do whatever it takes for as long as it takes, to bring these men and those who support them...to justice."

Who's the smart people here?

Go Geoge and Tony, we're rooting for you!!1  Big thumbs up

Aloha 737-200!!; -)

I still don't think this campaign will lead us anywhere, we will never find Osama. The little b*tch is hidden somewhere and can move fast...and what about all his followers? They'll still be at large, all over the world.

Osama is a big galute - 6 foot six inches from what I have read. His deputies are all short bastards, as were the animals who hijacked our planes. So, he is no "little bitch."

Bin-Laden may not need to be directly found, he suffers from bad kidney problems. So if he has to hide out for an extended period, he cannot risk going to a medical facility if he gets sick.
