Any Lefties Out There?

Sat Oct 27, 2001 2:10 am

Hi there,

Yup, i am a lefty! I am just about as left as you can get (not in a political sense Big grin), except i still use some household items, and knives+forks Big grin.

So, is anyone else one of just 7% of the world?

Cheers

Dan

Its been proven time and time again that people that are left-handed are a freak of nature. It's a borderline mental-illness. Damn they make me SICK!! Get with the program you freaks!!!!!!

I'm left handed but I can write with my right hand also but in a messy way because my mom forced me to write with my right hand when I was young. hehehehe.

How did the term "south paw" come about to describe left handed people?

Me and my brother are left-handers. Parents are right-handers! Strange?

Write, throw and kick on the left.

Use the right for cutting but have got a left-handed pair of scissors now. But I've incapicated the left-hand by having an accident with the scissors!

Right-handed for two-handed sport (e.g. cricket, baseball) and left for one-handed sport (e.g. tennis), which is the opposite of my dad.

Went to school with someone who didn't realise I was left-handed until our final (7th) year  Nuts

I'm a lefty when it comes to eating and writing. Everything else - throwing, shooting, bowling, stuff like that - I do right-handed.

Mls515, 'South Paw' came from the Latin term 'Sotha Paun' which means PHYCHO-FREAK!!!!!!!!

I am partially left-handed. I eat and write with my right hand, but throw with my left, and can catch with either one.

In a political sense - definitely a lefty. Big grin

Southpaw was an old baseball term for left handers because back then before a left hander threw to home plate either he (or the back of his hands) would always face the south. It's really more accurate than this but I can't remember the whole story. Anyway it's something like that.

I am ambidextrous but I write left-handed. I think overtime left-handers learn to live in the 'right-handed world' so they become more ambidexterous. However, I have always played cricket, tennis etc. right-handed and use scissors right-handed. Is it about 1 in 10 people that write left-handed, and it is also not hereditary? I'm the only one in my family.

Totally right handed... for all intensive purposes... left hand, useless to me... except it can be interchanged with the right... for other "purposes"... either one works for that..  Big grin

I am so damn left-handed, it's ridiculous!

Except guitar, but I've never bought into that right-handed left-handed guitar thing. Each hand is doing something complex.

I'm a leftie, I saw a show on discovery channel about lefties. It's said they use more of there brain because they have more interaction between the two hemisphere's. Therefore they have better memory on average, especially long-term memory.

Yea, it's wierd. I'm left-handed. My dad is a righty, my sister is a righty, my mom is a righty. My mom's family are all right handed and my dad's family are all left handed (my dad's brothers, sister's, parent's) so I'm the only lefty in my family. Strange. But yea, I am also ambidextrous but I use my left to write and sometimes use my right hand to write if im lazy to write with my left because of my arm curving.

I can't throw or hit with my right. I use a scissors with my right hand. I wonder what's the percentage of people that are left handed?
