Dunkin' Donuts and Burger King are both British owned.

Mind you, you got Jaguar and Aston Martin in return...

Wow... hard to say... living in Europe we get European products mostly, but American products have that something more and you can easily pick them out in a shelf, I wonder why?

The website there is completely correct, Burger King was developed in Miami by James McLamore (a Cornell Hotel grad!) and is headquartered still in Miami.

However, the website doesn't say one thing, Burger King is owned by British parent Diageo. However, Diageo has been desparate to separate itself from the food business recently and Burger King will be spun off from the Brits shortly.

As far as Dunkin Donuts, like Burger King it also was developed in the United States by an American, Bill Rosenberg, in 1946. In 1990 the chain was sold to the British food and beverage firm Allied Domecq.

Like Burger King, Dunkin Donuts was also created by an American and no matter who owns it, it is still an American product that was created by an American. So in my book it is still an American product. You look at Pizza, though Pizza Hut, Papa John's and all of these other companies own or make pizza, it is still considered an Italian product. Just the way I see it, but thanks a lot for verifying that for me.

I was really being flippant, so I'm a bit surprised that the whole subject of current ownership of Burger King/Dunkin' Donuts became a kind of sub-topic.

I agree that ownership is irrelevant, they are still American products. Same as Guinness will always be Irish even though they are also owned by Diageo.

But does this mean I can still claim Jaguar and Aston Martin as still British?

What about Jack Daniels, founded by a Welshman..?

No need to reply - I'm still being flippant! Big grin

A & W root beer is from a fast food chain called A & W in Canada, not the U.S.

As for my favorite American product, it's hard to say, we have so many here in Canada being so close. I guess Coca-Cola, and American Cars, and Boeing of course!!!

Wait a minute everybody!  Pissed

Of all the great things to come out of the USA, the best you all can come up with is some fattening, artificial flavored, sugar coated greasy junk food!?!?!

What about the automobile, aircraft, the elevator, washer & dryers, power-tools, music, stereos, telephones, computers, the internet and sex toys?

Come on, you guys can do better than that!  Laugh out loud
