I think that there was a big debate over that. It is eather the Petronas Towers in Malaysia or the Sears Tower in Chicago.

I am trying to find one for you, but I can't seem to find anything. I don't recall where I have heard about the antenna, but I am very sure that I am correct with that information.

Here we go, I found a website that has the tallest buildings in the world, but I can't find the tallest structure or anything with hard evidence.

This issue will never be resolved as long as there are differing definitions of what constitutes being the "tallest" :

Distance from ground to top of actual structure

Or

Distance from ground to top of antennae, flagpole, etc.

Hell you can even take this argument a step further, bordering on the absurd:

What is the tallest above SEA LEVEL

Or worse yet: Farthest from the center of the earth

It depends on how you look at it. The Sears Tower is taller in terms of occupied space, but the Petronas has a taller antenna on top. The way I see it, Sears is tallest.

Anytime. Sorry, the antenna wasn't in SD but North Dakota. Appologize for the misleading info.

The worlds tallest structure collapsed in 1991. It was a guyed radio antena in Konstantynow Poland. it was 2,120feet tall.It went into operation in 1974 and weighed 541 tons. Just a cool fact i think.

CN Tower!

The tallest building is indeed the CN Tower in Toronto. It can be considered a building and it's higher than any skyscraper.

I think the tallest structure held up by itself (ie, without any wires tethering it to the ground and such) is the CN tower, and the tallest skyscraper in the world is the petronas towers, because the actual structure of the buildings, if not the occupied space is taller than the sear's towers' actual structural height. The CN tower is not a skyscraper because it is an observation tower.
