Highlighted Hair

Sun Nov 18, 2001 6:16 am

Own up people, how many of you highlight your hair? I have been highlighting for around a month, my naturally dark chestnut hair has gone very dark blonde with a hint of orange to it. I'd still like it to go totally dark blonde, make the orange vanish.
Many people around here highlight their hair, the surprising thing is that most think my hair is natural... I do feel a bit conceited tho, esp since I'm a guy...
But I just want to look good  Big thumbs up

Hehe... don't be scared, I was too and it's worked out well for me. May I suggest you get Sun In, you can try a little at first and increase later.

ILS, I've tried lemon juice and camomile (sp) extract and it didn't do anything for me...
The only thing that's worked is hydrogen peroxide 6%.

Ive had the top of my head bleached 3-4 times. The last time I had it done was in May and I had the "highlights" till October, then the bleached hairs were all gone when I got my hair cut then. So right now its all natural hair color, but I will probably bleach it sometime again soon. Right now I have this gel in my hair that has lemon juice extract and bits of lemon in it and its supposed to lighten your hair when you wear it and are exposed to the sun. Its called "beach blonde" by John Frieda.

I had them for like 3 years in middle school. then in high school i didn't have them in 9th or 10th. I had my own natural brownish color. Now, i wnated somthing new done. I went to the chick that does my hair, and she said not to go blonde highlights, since winter is comming/here, so i went with red. And it looks very good. I am glad I didn't go blonde, and i probaly wont go blonde.

At my high school, bleaching your hair is very popular with all of the guys, and all of the girls just hang all over them guys. I became frustrated, and wanted to bleach my hair, until I heard my grandmother's opinion on it. She says that guys never used to dye their hair and that if I ever did it, she would tell me off. Plus my parents would kill me because they absolutely refuse to let me be of the majority of the guys, which have bleached hair. I could type a whole 4 page paper on my grandmother and her negative effect on my life, but I will spare you of that.

I have been able to overcome my parents' conservative opinions with highlights. My mum is not really glad about it, but she tells me it's my hair anyway. And I'm happy she has that opinion.

I have used sun in before (not when I went totally blonde), and it really damages your hair. I would get it done pro, that is what I did when I went totally blonde, and it works much better!

Do you guys have it done perofessionally or do you do it yourself?

I am getting bored with my current hairstyle and might have highlights or something else.
