Court HEaring

Sun Nov 18, 2001 6:52 am

hey, i actually am a student in the US ( Arizona )
what happened is that i had some financial hardship which forced me to move out of my apartment without paying for half my rent ( i actaully live with a friend )
anyway, what happened is that my ex roommate sent me an e.mail saying that he will set up a court hearing that will force me to pay the rent . ( he doesn`t know where i live now )
what happens to you since when i signed the lease i just gave them a copy of my visa and passport ? and i don`t have a social security number

anyone knows what can happen ?

Well, my parents have had people move out of the apartments they rent and leave a roommate behind. They said they can force the roommate to pay what is due since the other is gone. Therefore your exroommate can be made to pay. Every state is different, this is Louisiana. I don't think much can happen to you unless the guy wants to take you on Peoples Court and sue you or something.

You bum, pay your damn rent. You signed the lease. When you did that, surely you knew what the expense was going to be. You are creating an enormous hardship for your ex-roomate, especially since the end of the semester is approaching.

I hope you are made to pay. No sympathy here.

My dad has had this kind of crap happen to him. He is a landlord for several apartment buildings and he complains about people leaving unexpectedly without fully paying. I second Mls515 on no sympathy.

I do believe that you can have your student visa revoked. Pay up deadbeat.
