Should Geezers Be Allowed To Drive?

Sun Nov 18, 2001 10:20 am

Let me hear your most recent "I Got Caught Behind An Old Fogie In Traffic" story!!

Make 'em good !!

Should individuals past the age of 128 be allowed on our freeways?  Big grin

I think that age 109 should be the cutoff!!  Big grin

I have to walk to school (its not that far) every day at it seems I am always having a near death experience involving either a, a really old driver, or b, a young female driver. Thats just my observations. Going through red lights, stop signs, not paying attention at crosswalks, etc.

anyone who's ever been to SE florida would appreciate this.

everytime we go down to Delray Beach, there is a fair amount of debris (plastic, glass etc.) in the middle of Military Tr. and atlantic ave.

I believe at a certain age, you should have to under go a yearly road test or something. You have to be a certain age to drive, so as you get older, I feel you should have to test, to make sure your ability to safely drive hasn't diminished.

Age really has nothing to do with it. My dad was 59 when he died and I would not trust him behind the wheel from about age 55 on. My mom, on the other hand is 55 (or the same age as Patty Duke  Insane) and I trust her driving completely. I have seen some 80 year olds that do very well and some 40 year olds that shouln't be allowed to drive.
Life in the wall is a drag.
