Orion Televisions

Tue Dec 18, 2001 9:28 am

Well, I've been contemplating whether or not to get a new 19" television for my bedroom. I really don't like the prices, but I do want quality. I have found a Magnavox, a Sharp, and a Philips Maganvox TV for not a bad price. Saturday, at Wal-Mart, I found an Orion 19" TV for $119. Are Orion televisions good? Do they last long? Good pricture quality, etc.? Thanks a lot, looking foward to your responses, and Merry Christmas.

Orion is one of the lowest cost brands, one of my roommates had one and it wasn't bad...but in any case go for the Sharp or Phillips...even Samsung is better and has a better reputation for quality.

Most low end consumer electronics like TVs and VCRs are rebranded anyway. They are not manufactured by the name on the front, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

As MLS515 says, TV's (until you get into the higher-end products) are commodity items. Buy the cheapest set that does what you want and on which the pictures meets your expectations.

Well, If i get satellite in my bedroom, I'm going to get a new 19" TV. I'll do more research, but I think I'll go with a Magnavox that I saw at bestbuy for around $129 I think.

Orion TVs SUCK! I had a 17 inch one and lost the remote. No one carries Orion. It was terrible!

ILS,
How was the Orion TV itself? Can't you just buy a generic remote, and program it by entering the code given in the instructions? Or don't they even have the codes for Orion? I'm not being rude, just asking.

I wouldn't trust generic electronics from Wal*Mart.

19 inch TVs aren't very popular these days, so the majority of these sets will be cheap, low-end models. My family was recently shopping at a local electronics they didn't even offer TV's smaller than 27 inches.
