Anyone See Magnolia? Eerie Coincidences

Wow, this is weird. Reminds me of the beginning of Magnolia and the three stories of coincidence. "These strange things happen all the time..."

What a stupid bastard.

Fla. Man Kills Mother in Accident

DONA VISTA, Fla. –– A man who was allegedly drag racing at speeds over 100 mph hit a car driven by his own mother, killing her and another passenger.

Though injured himself, Dwight Samples, 21, asked emergency workers to tend to his mother after he realized he had struck her car, witnesses said.

Diane Samples, 45, had been driving around her 72-year-old friend, Vivian Green, to look at Christmas lights when the accident occurred Wednesday night. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

"It's bizarre. His mom was doing an act of kindness taking this lady around to see Christmas lights," said Lt. Chuck Williams, a spokesman for the Florida Highway Patrol. "You think the probabilities for a phenomenon like this are, wow."

Samples was airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center with head wounds and was listed as stable. His head went through the windshield.

Police said he was driving his late-model Ford Mustang on a two-lane state road when he rear-ended his mother's car. Witnesses said he appeared to be drag racing with another car, which was not involved in the accident. He was believed to be going 100 mph to 120 mph.

A decision on whether to charge Samples won't be made until after the crash investigation is completed in a few days, Williams said. A toxicology test was given to Samples, but there is no indication that he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Weird story!
I'm a fan of P.T. Anderson's films, my favourite being Boogie Nights.
Magnolia was overlong, overwrought but still very good.
