What About International Security?

Mon Dec 24, 2001 4:05 am

OK, The United States had its security more intensive. But what about European flights coming INTO the US? I am just wondering the about security overseas. Is it as intensive there as it is here? Its something to be very concerned about.

Not to wear the issue out, but I am pretty sure that this guy with the explosives in his shoes could have gotten through secutity at any US airport. So it isn't necessairily just an international issue.

B747ca I really dont like the idea about arming pilots. Tell you why, a pilot with emotional or a depressed mental state of mind could just as well bring down a jetliner or even take out himself with a gun!!! PLEASE try to understand that you dont have to be a terrorist to do such an act. OK, if you want pilots to be armed then the FAA should do extensive psychological evaluations or even criminal backround checks for pilots. In addition to my response, why do people want armed pilots or armed sky marshals in the air? That tells me that were not doing a good job on security checks here on the ground. The first step is that we have to make AN EXTENSIVE SEARCH here on the ground so we DONT have to get pilots armed.

A pilot can take down an airliner without a gun. See Egypt Air.

AHEM! But security in the EU is generally a LOT better than in the US. Who screens ALL bags? (ALL, not just carry-on). NO non-ticketed passengers beyond security. Ramp rules are genrally a lot stricter too.

Someone's gonna throw Lockerbie back at me, but the fact remains that even after september 11th. the EU airports are safer.
