Lord Of The Rings Fans!

Mon Dec 31, 2001 2:18 pm

Any other Lord of the Rings fans besides me? Also, what edition of the book do you have? I have the Millenium edition. Or did you just see the movie? My favorite character in Gandalph. Who is yours?

 Big thumbs up

I am a fan of the books and I loved the movie. I read the 50th anniversary issue which came out in 1973, whereas the book was published in 1955, so I am not really sure where they got 50th anniversary from...? The inklings were some of the worlds smartest men ever. I enjoy all their books, very thought provoking, escpecially the ones on apologetics by C.S. Lewis. They were very influential in my early and present Christian walk. If you ever get the chance, even if you are atheist, pick up Mere Chrisitanity and Miracles, they might just make you change your mind. No blind faith here.

I am in search of a first edition Lord of the Rings, British or US edition. The lowest price I could find was $1500.  Sad

I've been a LOTR fan since I was 4 years old. At that age my father started reading the books to me - I have a German edition published 1984 and an English edition published 1974 by Unwin.
I have read the books over and over again - my favorite characters are Aragorn and Frodo.  Love

I've seen the movie on Dec. 19th - it was really fantastic. I'm going to watch it again on Jan. 2nd!

regards,

Fantastic book, pretty good film

My dad has an original edition English copy which has been inscribed inside the front cover by JRR Tolkien. It is in near mint condition and he got it for £2 about 15 years ago. I wonder what it would make on ebay today? A lot more than £2 I reckon!!!
I used to think the brain is the most fascinating part of my body. But, hey, who is telling me that?

Ryan, where did your dad get that book? At a used bookstore? It is going for over $1500 on EBAY. Please contact me!

He got it from a Church fair. It has 'Best Wishes, JRR Tolkien' written inside the front cover.

However, he would never sell it.

I have 4 editions...
- illustrated hardcover aniversary edition
- paperback aniversary boxed set
- millennium edition (boxed hardcover version with audio CD).
- movie edition (boxed hardcover non-illustrated version).

Looking for more special editions all the time. Had to pass up some great ones because I could not afford them at the time  Sad

For the serious Fan, the Atlas of Middle Earth is indispensible.
