What's Yer Poison?

Thu Jan 10, 2002 2:27 am

Not that I'm an alcoholic or anything, but I was sitting here at work and all of a sudden a martini sounded really good.... so maybe I'll belly up to the bar tonight for a cocktail or two.

Made me curious though... what do fellow a.net members imbibe?

I've developed a taste for the expensive crap lately...

- Bombay Sapphire martini's, up, dry, with lots of olives

- I also like Tanquerary

- Crown Royal (drink of the gods) - either on the rocks or with soda and a twist

- Used to drink Johnny Walker Black a lot, but haven't in awhile

Vodka: I like Skyy and Absolut, but not real picky here. Seems Grey Goose and Fris and Chopin are becoming really popular, but I'm not impressed.

- Absolut Citron cosmo's are yummy too.

Well, usually it's beer. Bass, Guiness, Newcastle and some cheapo American beer when I'm getting full.

For hard stuff, mostly anything with vodka. Vodka & tonic usually. I've learned to appreciate the cheap stuff: Aristocrat, Popov, etc. Not easy on the stomach, but easy on the bank account! Cheap vodka only - no cheap rum, gin or whatever. THAT stuff will kill you.

I also like Jack Daniels and Glenfiddich. But I don't drink those too often.

Champaign forever.............,BUT I'm also fond of some belgian, irish, american and german beer brands.

When I 'm out for dinner,I always have to gulp down a succulent MARTINI Rosso for aperitive or at least a good Amaretto or Batida coco after-meal.

There were times I used to drink Whiskey pure or Wodka-quite in considerable amounts but I had to slow down a little with all that hard'n nasty stuff........!
Now I hate the taste of it .... the bare smell of it makes me wanna puke !

Lets see... for Beer my all time favourite is Victoria Bitter out of Melbourne. Followed by Killians Irish red, Red stripe, and Crown Lager another beauty born in Australia. When I am in the mood and short on cash, or just wanna get rowdy I will go for the brand new Olde English HG (High Gravity) "800" 40 ouncer. As far as hard alcohol is concerned my favourite shot is a QF (Quick F*ck) with Midori, Bailies Irish cream, and Kahluha. I have only found this shot in Australian bars/clubs. Is this shot only found in Australia? And White Russians are ok mixed drinks as well.

Well it all depends on the situation TW.

If I am with a client and depending on the client I usually drink very expensive stuff. Last Saturday I had two bottles of 1981 Merlot. My client was saving it for his wife but she doesn't appreciate wine as much as him and I do. I tell you that wine was so good. I took 4 glasses and I was out.

If I'm hanging out with my friends I usually drink Remy on the rocks. It's really tasty.

I like Bombay Sapphire martini's as well. I once had a client that loved Martini's. The only think is that after a while his toungue tasted really sour. Very bad taste when you are french kissing someone.

Take care.

...Hustler.

P.S. - Superfly - I got into trouble with Tanquerary when I was 19. I beat the crap out of one of my friends that got stupid with me. That drink is some serious shit.

hhmm, despite being 15, i do drink alcohol (my parents let me, but not enough to get drunk).

Normally, I'll have a Gin and Tonic, with 3 ice cubes and a slice of lime, although if there is a match on TV i'll have some beer (don't care what, although i do like Bass!).

I'm not a fan of lager though.

Have you ever had an early morning flight on Continental after drinking WAY too much Crown the night before, and you didn't get upgraded despite being a Platinum Elite member, and you had to suffer in a packed coach cabin while trying not to ralph...

That may have happened to me this past Monday morning... I'm not at liberty to confirm nor deny it.

Hard liquor: Angostura's Royal Oak or any really old single malt scotch.

Beer: Carib Strong.

Mixed: pina colada.

I appreciate various brands and types of alcoholic beverages. I, too, have taken note of the superior quality and pallate of higher priced brands.

On the few occasions that I do drink the hard stuff, I like to snuggle up to Brandy (E&J preferrably). Back in the day when I was feeling a bit wild, I would call for a screamin' nazi--that's Yagermiester and Rumplemintz. (sp.?)

The only alcohol I drink usually is beer or white wine to be social...maybe even Smirnoff Ice, but otherwise alcohol doesn't really have much appeal to me...partly due to several incidents as a frosh  Smile

Hmmm,

All over xmas I was drinking Veuve Champers, other than that I prefer a nice Verdhelo (white wine) or a semillon/chardonay.

Have been know to drink Johnny Black, Overproof Southern Comfort and Overproof Bundaberg Rum.

I hear squells of horror?

Cheers,

Definitely depends on the situation:

Few drinks in the pub: Fullers London Pride
Getting tanked up at uni: snakebite and black, turbo shandy (smirnoff ice and half a pint of lager)
Cocktail of choice: Planters Punch (dark rum, grenadine, fresh lime, orange juice) or White Russian (vodka, kalhuha, milk)

Obviously champagne if there's any about!

Hmm...let's see...

Wine: Kendall Jackson Chardonnay, almost always good, or a nice Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon where reds are concerned.

Beer: Hate the stuff.

Liqueur: Bailey's all the way.

Mixed: Bacardi Limon and Coke is my standard.

Martinis: Chocolate are the best. There is a drink called Coco Chanel which has Godiva White Chocolate liqueur, Stolichnaya raspberry vodka and is garnished with fresh raspberries and cocoa powder. YUMMY!

Hmmm...Beer. Molson Export, Heineken, and most Czech brews are my favourites. I also love a good, big, and strong Margarita. I had this one at a Mexican restaurant in Montréal...one of their Margarita's knocked my socks off!

JD & Coke is an old favourite.

And with dinner, what beats a nice glass of wine. I'm preferable to white while, maybe a Pinot grigio, but if the dinner calls for it, a dry Chardonnay or Cabernet will be in order. My personal recommendation is Rosemount Australian Shiraz and either Georges DuBœuf or Pouilly Fuisse whites.

I like Australian Shiraz' as well LH423. I also like Pinot Noir for red and Pinot Grigio for white.

As far as beers, I'm not a big fan of Heineken although I had it on tap in Amsterdam this past Fall, and it tasted better than it does here in America. I like LaBatt's and Molson, Bass and Budweiser and both MGD and Miller Lite.

Being a minor I have to make booze trips across the river to Hull, Quebec to buy my alcohol. If I'm going to a party the beerchoice is normally Molson Canadian.

I also enjoy smirnoff ice and mikes hard.. but only when i do dial-a-bottle..

I had a very bad experience with vodka and kool-aid this summer and it will be a while before I try it again.

TWFirst is right.

French vodka Grey Goose and Frijs (sp?) are becoming popular with the clubs.

Absolut is for people who don't know vodka.

Stolichnya, now we're talking. Always loved stolis, even before I was 21... wait I'm....  Smile

As for rum, call me a woman, but I like that Malibu coconut shit with oj.

Killians is by far my favorite beer.

not much into gin or any of the whiskeys.

Gordons gin + tonic with a sqeeze of lime is good after a days of hard work... or college  Smile

If I'm out for a beer, a crown lager will do it for me... altho the bottle doesnt look quite fashiopnable..

Just curious, have anyone of you heard of a drink called "women's revenge" ? this is how it is served, or consumed:

1. Swig the Baileys, and hold it in your mouth,
2. then drink the lime juice, when the bailey is still in your mouth,
3. Do a little gargle..
4. AKA "Blowjob Revenge"

Try it and you will see the relevence of the latter name...

Try it at home actually..

First choice, Jim Beam and Coke, usually get friends and family to buy this duty free.
2nd choice, Bundaberg Rum and Coke, locally made rum usually cheaper and more readily available.
