Do You Like Your First Name?

Wed Jan 16, 2002 8:02 am

Just wondering if you like your first name? Mine is Andre, its not very common at all here in Vermont, USA I guess its ok, although I would prefer a more common name (Joe, Jamie, Ken etc), but its not like I really had a choice in my naming.....

Hello,

Well mine is Jeremiah, nicely translated into French as Jeremie/Jeremy or shortened to Jer/Jerry. I guess I kind of like it, it isn't overly common either.

One name I kinda like along the same lines is Jonathan.

Andre is a cool name  Big thumbs up.

My name is Dan, I sign with it in most of my posts, so I guess I do like it.

My birth name is Gregory, but nobody calls me that except my parents and one of my teachers who is very ignorant and wont call me Greg, which is what I prefer much more.

My first name is so common that I've never thought of it. Drives a couple of my friends crazy when we're out though. They hear people calling "Steve, Steve !" and can't understand why I don't react. Of course with names like Lorna and Dasha and Heidi, I guess I can understand what they mean.

BTW, Andre is a fine name. Just imagine if it were Fred.

Mine is Neil....rather rare here in Canada. I was born in the UK where it is a more common name. I don't mind having a rather rare first name because my sirname is VERY common!  Smile

Andre is cool.....makes you sound French. Being from Vermont, do you have French-Canadian background?

Just imagine if it were Fred

My legal name is Frederick  Angry  Big thumbs up

While that's my legal name, I have never been called by that. My parents called me Ted, named after baseball legend Ted Williams, however I find that name rather juvenile, plus I've had to explain a thousand times over to people how I get "Ted" from "Fred".

I prefer to call myself Erik, by taking Frederick and simply leaving F-R-E-D-E-R-I-C-K.

My name is supposedly the most common in the world (Michael) and is in many languages (English, French, Russian and Czech/Slovak plus others).

I don't really like Michael though...about 75% of the time people automatically call me Mike and I like that better.

My name is Nicholas, the third most common name in the USA according to a survey I read. I hate it. The only person that calls me that is my grandmother. She also accidentally used to call me Christopher when I was a baby Confused

I was called Nicky until I was 13 and thereafter just Nick. I don't have a second name, so I can't even call myself by what might have been a better alternative. I've often thought of changing my name, or adding a second name, but try calling yourself by something other than your regular name and it sounds really weird. I wouldn't mind a different surname either - one that you don't have to spell every time and one that doesn't have 49 different variations in the spelling.

Same as CPDC10-30 here, my first name is Michael. I don't mind it at all, in fact I quite like it, I appreciate the fact that being born in Malta to Czech parents and living in Malta all my life, my parents didn't give me a hideous, typically Slavic name but went for something international. What I hate is when people spell my name Micheal, which is unfortunately quite common.

No, I don't like my first name (nor my last name for that matter).

Too stereotypical. That's why I'm changing it next year to either Leroy Jackson, or Gustavo Scheinermeister.

My first name is Graham (which I don't like), but thankfully I'm called by my second name, Thomas, because my parents liked the name better.

On the internet, most people call me Tommy.

My friends call me Tom, Tomo, Tomas, tomass, Toomash or Tomash. Loads of variations!

My first name is very rare. I mean, how many guys do you meet whose first name is John? Heheheheheh.
Actually, I very much like the name John, even though it's very common (understatement).

HiYa!
My name is Markus. On me birth certificate it's spelt Marcus. Not a massive change but I much prefer the K, just sounds a little more European! People at school call me Marc (not Mark!) and thats they way I liked to be known for some time because it sounded kinda more Italianish.

I have decided on me name's fate and it remains Markus!

I 've heard a guy from Finland and his name is Mika.

My first name is Kevin but friends calls me Kev for short. Even tho my midle name is Eric, I've had some people call me Eric, usually substitute teachers which they see Eric first and then Kevin on the attendents list.

Even tho, Kevin is ranked like 27th in men's name, I'm not all that a big fan of my name. A cool name would be a typical californian name like Caleb or "The Dude." heh. But I've had many girls tell me that they liked my name. meh. I've had a guy spelled my name as KIEVin after the city Kiev, Ukraine.

It's Arastoo. Pronounced like the greek philosopher Aristotle except with a OO instead of OTLE

My name is Paris and I like it because it is a very rare name. My middle name is Alexander but I never use it, not even on my ID anymore. It is too comon and I would hate people calling me Alekos, Alexis, Alex etc... the typical Greek short names for Alexander.
