Hello all. It's truly pathetic that Johan's too-tight forum rules force me to keep this out of the main aviation forum, but I consider it his loss, not mine.
Anyway, I have given up. After four years of designing this bloody jetliner, I have managed to exhaust myself to the point where I really don't want to invest the intellectual and artistic energies necessary to make a really good house/demonstrator color scheme similar to Boeing's Triple-Line Patriotic or Airbus' Half-Rainbow/Bluetail. The point is, I find that when things like this are opened up to other people, a lot of really amazing ideas come in, and with this motley crew it should be fascinating to see. It would probably just be for fun, because no matter how much energy I've put into making this thing fly the fact is that there just isn't going to be anyway to sell it to LMC (though I have also considered taking it to Boeing and offering it as a replacement for the failed 747-XStretch).
So... before I ask you all for livery ideas, I'll ask you all for ideas on how to conduct such a contest.
(I did offer this exclusively to Air Orange but he wanted to charge me several thousand dollars, so I skipped on out of that!)
Things to keep in mind:
In order to make this thing work, I will be more than willing to send anyone who wishes to participate a dozen 1'-long copies of the airplane profile for "practice runs" and one 2.5'-long copy for a finished suggestion, as well as prepaid envelopes large enough to send back the completed 2.5-footer.
There would be basically no rules except the obvious stuff, no naked people, no cursewords, etc.
And of course, it would have to have some words (L-1011-600 and TryStar, for example).
And lastly, I don't have buckets of money, so the biggest reward I could offer given that this thing is totally non-endorsed by LMC would be like US$200. You would also receive a 4-or-5 foot-long laminated computer-rendering (Adobe Illustrator) of your work. For those of you getting into artsy schools that would make for a pretty good sample of your work... Actually I'd probably frame it rather than just laminate it (or do one of both).
Anyway, I'm not sure how to structure something like this, so any ideas are much appreciated. (If you want to go ahead and sign up also, let me know.)
