Former Enron Exec Commits Suicide

Sat Jan 26, 2002 2:12 am

Damn, that's some twisted stuff right there.

All of this over stock prices...

Typical....this is what happens when a corporate giant goes under due to poor upper management. Mr. Baxter did not deserve this at all. May he rest in peace.

It's amazing the lengths people will go to to satisfy their desires of greed, and the lengths they will go to avoid the consequences if/when they are rearing to bite them back in the ass.

I don't feel one skimtchin of pity for this sorry ass excuse of a person and I take solace in knowing that he is now burning in hell.

I hope that what he did was worth it.

It's obvious that this guy, along with the rest of the Enron / Arthur Andersen execs knew they were screwing over all of the stockholders. I feel bad for his family, who did nothing to deserve this. It's a shame he won't live to see his name and company destroyed. Greedy in life, greedy in death.

Shades of seppeku(SP?)....a face saving self-dispatch that's tradition in Japan.

In danger of becoming a Texas tradition too. What does THAT tell ya?

I always knew that Japanese businessmen were greedy, self serving, penny pinching SOB's.

But you mean to tell me that in Japan, when the people they screwed over are coming back to make them "pay the fiddler", responding with suicide is COMMON?

Sheesh.

I don't know if this absolves him in any way, but he was fighting against the scandal in Enron.

According to MSNBC he was on a one-man campaign against the questionable accounting practices. Looks like he lost.

A true Coward alright.

What about the many countrypeople of the US who lost billions many their life savings because of Enron's lies. I have no sympathies for these fatcats! May he burn for ripping off these people. What they did is outrageous. They lied in the reports on how the stock is doing which many people thought that it was so good that they invested their hard earned$$$ in it. Then their money went away.

Atleast his family will not loose the fancy house, the cars, the yacht, learjet, etc!

You have many stockholders who lost alot of $$$ that they can't get back. There were Enron employees who worked for the comapny for years who retired and their pensions have gone bye bye. Why not feel sorry for them!?!

Again. I've got no symapthy for the Arthur andersons and Mr Baxter Fatcats of the world who have millions while others have nothing or next to it due to scum them them!

Are we totally sure its a suicide? Maybe I'm retarded, foolish, or whatever, but its a bit strange to me. The one guy who is fighting against Enron happens to kill himself? It doesn't sound right.

I personally think someone trying to protect Enron put out a "hit" on this guy so he wouldn't spill the beans.

How great would it be if, after the smoke clears, it is revealed that Enron (a paper trading company) turns out to be a front for the Taliban?

Scary thing is, he was just one of 29 board members. Imagine how much money other board members made. And I didn't even touch CEO and other high-rollers.

I've had a number of personal tragedies in my life (as have probably MOST people) but you FIGHT to carry on and get over it. It makes you stronger.

Suicide is absolutely the ultimate in cowardly, selfish acts.

Shame on him.

Sounds like the Enron big shots specialized in them.

Hopefully, Arthur Andersen will be mortally wounded by the Enron scandal as well.

The whole accounting industry is a mess. Didn't Deloitte Touche (sp?) do peer evaluation on Andersen less than a year ago? So much for self regulated industry. And then there was KPMG censure just a while ago. Before we know it, accoutants are going to have a rep just like lawyers in general.  Big grin
