IPsec For WinCE?

Thu Feb 07, 2002 5:40 pm

Is it possible to create an IPsec connection between a PDA running with WinCE and a Desktop PC (Win2000)?
I need this or an equal solution for a wireless-LAN connection.

Hmm, I don't know if IPsec is possible (it must be I guess), but PPTP should be available.

But it must be IPsec.

Pocket2002 OS only supports PPTP natively. You will have to find a third party solution for IPsec (either PPC2002 or earlier.) Try here;

Most wireless LAN, 802.11b for sure, offer encryption at the hardware level. So, what you (Gekkogecko) are seeking may not be necessary at all.

@Ryu2

If you mean the WEP-encryption, there is a tool called Airsnort, but get a look at it:
http://airsnort.sourceforge.net/

And all the other security options at a WLAN are only protections to prevent unauthorised accesses. But you can always recive messages from an Access Point.

Gekkogecko's right, WEP is not to be trusted these days. If you're talking a business environment here, place the access points outside the main network into a firewalled DMZ and use a combination of either IPsec or PPTP tunneling and rules to give network access to wireless clients.
