Olympic Hockey

Sat Feb 09, 2002 2:57 am

I just looked through the roster for the USA hockey team. How can Brett Hull, Keith Tkachuc, and Adam Deadmarsh all play for Team USA if they were born in Canada?

Keith Tkachuk is from Melrose, Mass., not from Canada.
Brett Hull's hometown is Deluth, Minn.
And Adam Deadmarsh's mother is American, therefore, he is eligible to play on Team USA.

Now, let's just hope they get a medal.

Brett Hull was born in Canada, but he holds dual citizenship. I heard the story about why he plays for Team USA a couple of years ago, but I forgot. Sorry.

I hope Hullie one-times a shot off Kieth Tkachuk's head. I hate that guy!

Brett Hull's mother is American and as such he holds American citizenship. He felt snubbed by Canada a few years ago when he was not selected to play for them and he then chose to play for the USA. Once you play for a country you are bound to it if I understand international rules.

I hope that Canada wins the gold but when it gets down to a one game knockout then anything can happen. There are four or five teams that could win gold and with all due repect to Staffen, from everything I have read and heard, Sweden is a long shot but with a bounce here or there who knows. ( Forsberg would help)

Roenick is a great player but an absolute moron. He is a cheapshot artist second to none and doesn't have any balls.

It is looking more and more like Steve Yzerman will not go for Canada and lets hope that Joe Thornton gets the call. Canada's weakness, to the surprise of everyone could be in the nets. All three goaltenders have played poorly at times this year. The best goalie from Canada right now and for the past two-three months has been Jose Theodore from Montreal. All three guys on the team should be counting their lucky stars that selections were made months ago.

As a hockey fan I am looking forward to some good hockey, not that crap that is played night after night in NHL arenas all over North America.

GO CANADA GO.

I have never heard so much crap in my life. Canada will win it without a doubt thanks to Eric Lindros and Theo Fleury with no thanks to that piece of shit Jeremy Roenick. NYR RULE!!!!!

Finland will win gold.

Team USA is a joke. Wonder what will they do this time if they lose... break the hotel furniture etc. again?

Btw. when was the last time the US won gold? European talent will always beat the North American talent, though I wish Canada won  Smile)

Finland unfortunatley has a few good players but not enough depth for this tournament. And Sweden is a much worse team without the intensity of Peter Forsberg. The Americans have a chance, but they have to make up for subpar goaltending.

Its a toss up between Russia, Czech and Canada.

Russia has the best forwards
Canada has the best defence
Czech Republic has the best goalie
