In your opinion, which states (or part of) constitutes the Southwest USA?

Well, being from a Southwestern State, my opinion is:

New Mexico, West Texas, Southwestern Colorado, Southern Utah, Arizona, Southern Nevada, and Southern California.

But what do I know. I'm just a hick from the west.

NormalSpeed,
Although I'm not a native, I live in Phoenix and think you've nailed it.

Most San Antonioians would consider South Texas part of the Southwest--I know I do.

I'm an Arizona native and I also agree with NormalSpeed although I do have to say I think Southern California is in the west.

Well, by southern California, I figured he meant to about Palm Springs. I don't consider San Diego or LA Southwestern. Maybe I was wrong, but that's what I was thinking.

I visited Southwest USA (New Mexico, Arizona, Utah) during the summer holidays last year - absolutely wonderful part of the world. To come from southern England and see scenery like that was absolutely gobsmacking. Would love to go back sometime and spend about 3 times as long seeing everything properly!

Lowsonboy, I live here and you've probably seen more of the southwest that I have.

SoCal is in a world of its own... it really isn't a part of anything.

And the only part of Texas I'd include would be El Paso, maybe the pan handle too. Texas really is like a whole other country.
