In general I hate GM cars, but I would say that these are ugly even if they were Ford...The boxy style went out in the early 90's...
Is it just me, or is the Escalade EXT/Avalanche seem kinda pointless, with the fold down seats/glass for a larger bed? I wouldn't want my cargo inside my truck.
Just my humble opinion...

I agree, the CTS is ugly. I like the Escalade, though.

I like the sedan and the coupe, but the big pickup truck thing is stupid. the regular escalade sells very well though.

i hope they do well, cadillac could use a pickmeup.

I disliked the CTS very much when first I saw it in print media; but I have to say that this is an example of a car which looks a LOT better in person, especially in motion.

I think they'll sell the whee out of 'em.

To be honest, I'm still having trouble with the whole "luxury SUV" concept. It seems like a contradiction in terms. The reason I'd buy an SUV is so I could have 4WD and get up the canyon on the powder days, and to maybe do some 4 wheelin' on jeep trails out in the desert (we'd camp, we'd hike, we'd look at the stars, it'd be great). Those activities are inherently dirty, and I'd be very hesitant to take a $30K+ vehicle on such adventures. Leather seats? You've got to be kidding!!! I'd plan on scratching up the paint in the first week, and getting mud everywhere. But then again, I think that you're getting screwed if you pay more than $20k on a car anyway.

So, in other words, I think Caddilac SUVs are gay.
Besides, I'm a VW fan.

NormalSpeed:
I agree about the luxury/SUV B/S.
The two DONT mix!

The last real Cadillac was the 1996 Fleetwood Brougham.
This car is/was a real beauty and very advanced. This body on frame, rear-wheel drive V8 sedan had a 350cu" (5.7) that put out 260 HP and got 27mpg.
I test drove one of these. It was very quiet and powerful. One of the most luxurious cars I've ever 'piloted'!
It's a shame that GM discontinued this model.  Sad

Whooooeee! I couldn't agree more. I've been trying to figure that out for years. My friend and I have been saving up some $$$ to get an SUV or Pickup to go road-trippin' in and behemoth luxurymobiles just don't cut it. I will admit to having a crush on Avalanches, they're kinda' hot, but with that plastic bottom they loose something in the aesthetics category.

As far as the boxy design goes, it's a trend cutting across all new car manufacturers. It's even beginning to winkle it's way into Dodge, now, with the sharp-corner wheel well protrusions, etc. I detest it with a passion and wish they would go back to the smooth-curve pattern of the late 90s, but that doesn't seem to be happening.

Sigh... what to do, what to do?

Just about everything!

A luxury sedan is supposed to be body on frame and rear-wheel drive. No Cadillac offers that in there sedans.

Caddies are nice, but Lincoln's are better.

Wow, is this the pub scene in "Donnie Brasco"?

I saw a CTS at my local mall yesterday, they had a car show of all the new models. Very boxy, but then again, I'm not a big Cadillac fan.

i really like the look of the new Escalade...gains alot of attention...big mean looking car. I drove it a few weeks ago...has alot of torque but still quite heavy.Does'nt have any grip like the Mercedes ML or the BMW X5...none the less its the best American SUV ever made i think.

This is about the fifteenth time Cadillac marketing has used the word "reborn" in the last twenty years.

GM has a philosophy. Start boxy, round untill there's literally no right angles on the car, then go boxy again.

Corporate creativity; The penultimate contradiction.

They are too trendy...in ten years they'll look ridiculous. Lincoln is in a much better position, they have kept their traditional models (Continental and Town Car) while introducing a good looking (and good selling) modern sports sedan, the LS.

But AirMale, a BMW 316i? Even economy cars here have larger engines than that! Why on earth would someone get a bimmer with no go-power?

I've loved Cadillacs for as long as I can remember, but these new ones I really do not like. Really ugly. No doubt they are competent cars and while only the Seville is sold in this country, it is unlikely that these new ones will ever make to our shores. The Seville hardly sold as it was priced at a level which made it totally uncompetitive with other luxury brands.

Its taking a back seat until I get my employment situation finalized. I've been promised full-time wages by my manager but they are kind of dragging their feet  Smile

But the Thunderbird or Cougar is still looking good if I can get enough sandbags in the trunk  Big grin

I gotcha, yeah I've been there before. I guess one advantage if they take forever is that maybe by the time you pick up your Cougar you won't need the sandbags as it will be spring!!  Wink/being sarcastic
