Sunglass Cool Guys In Cloudy Weather?

Sat Feb 23, 2002 12:28 am

What think you about these clowns who wear sunglasses day or night, no matter how bright it is? I saw 2 dudes wearing them this morning despite the glaring absence of... SUN. It wasn't even close to being sunny. I was about to ask the guys which way the beach was, but I figured they wouldn't be able to see me. What with the dark glasses and all. Then a second thought crossed my mind. "Greet" them with a baseball bat. But I thought better of that one.

Anyway, what's up with these clowns?

I wear my sunglasses only if I get blinded by the sun, that`s the sense of sunglasses. I wear them mostly when I drive my car, when I have a window seat in a plane or during plane spotting.

I've noticed this odd behavior as well. Obviously, many view them as some fashion accessory. -- Another tidbit: Some years ago I was reading an article in a New York sunday newspaper magazine regarding life in NYC, and some woman was quoted as saying that she and others always wear sunglasses to look less approachable to men-- they can't make eye contact. Another weird thing was that some women said they wore "walkman" headphones, but with no walkman, for the same reason- aloofness. This was back in the 80's but it was so funny I still remember it.

Though I doubt these guys are doing it for my reason, but even in cloudy weather there is still a lot of glare outside. For people like me who are relatively light sensitive, sunglasses tend to be a must when it is light out.

Desert, me too. Even cloudy days can be uncomfortable for some people. I have blue eyes and people with blue eyes tend to be more sensitive to light. There are a ton of other factors as odd as an overactive thyroid. But granted, some people just think they look cool in shades.

Oh and I forgot. They also refer to them as "shades," and occasionally as "my shades dude."

I wear shades because my contact lenses make my eyes sensative. Today, driving from Walla Walla to The Dalles, there was just enough clouds to make a glare, but not enough for shade. I don't wear them at night because that's stupid. The not making eye contact thing is a good idea. Good way to check someone out.

I don´t really feel cool wearing sunglasses while it´s windy and clouded outside. Dust, wind and hard contact lenses are not a good combination. Well yes someone may say in this case i could use normal glasses but this is another story...

Ok, I've seen reasons for sunglasses when cloudy, but what about sunglasses while bowling, indoor bowling that is

The PBA sure has fallen from it's glory days (well their slightly more popular than now days).

This is the "top draw" of the bowling world Mr. Pete Weber jr, all 105 lbs. of him

oh yes, I am not a bowler, but when the forums go down with server trouble you find yourself watching anything you can on ESPN

I don't know about cloudy weather, but I like to wear my sunglasses, my sunglasses at night.
