Best And Worst Of Airliners.Net

Sun Feb 24, 2002 7:40 am

I've been an on and off user here for some time. When I come I usually read but seldom post.
Now it's been a long time since I have been here. Who are the best and worst posters here?

It all depends upon your criteria.

For all 'round even-tempered commentary, with analysis and supportive citation to facts, it is tough to beat Prebennorholm; MX5Boy does good job of presenting the d'nunder perspective. Superfly has the acid wit, he charms the ladies like no one else (how'd he get all that Mojo? And why won't he share it?); and he has a proper appreciation for all things Lincoln.

If you're looking for the best insightful "from the inside" posts on the airline biz (pilot's view), Doug Taylor (sorry I cannot recall his handle, but its something like DC9Cpt) is a boundless and unselfish source of information and advice.

And, as much as it pains me to credit anything with "Ag" in it (  Wink/being sarcastic ), I always enjoy reading posts from TxAgKuwait.

MattD (along with 'Fly, above) is a fountain of trivial knowledge on open-reel tape devices; and boy can he hold forth when he gets his fur up on some topic or another.

I could go on and on. There are a big bunch of interesting folks here, from all over. But one thing is certain: if you want to see a thread die a quick death, just let me post in it!

The worst posters here are the ones who CONSTANTLY post things about their personal life or start stupid threads like "Crest vs. Colgate" or "I Need Help Getting Laid".

It really depends on whether you want to hear someone making funny remarks on everything or if you want to read aviation related stuff.
There's so many people who mainly only post in the non_aviation forum. Well I guess that are not necessarily the "good one's".
After all we shouldn't forget that this is an aviation website and not a "I have xyz problem" or "XX or YY?"

B737-700, if people are meant to talk about just aviation, why have a non-av forum?

Jaspike, that's what I ask myself. Maybe it would be good for the forums if there was no non_aviation forum.

What if people want to discuss things other than aviation? If they mention it in civil-av, it'll be deleted, that's why there is a non-av forum!

True, the non av forum can help to learn about more about fellow users but on the other hand many fights come up in this forum.
You could also argue that if you want to talk about other things than aviation just go to a chat.
Well there's always pro's and con's.

Its the bad ones that stand out. In my opinon, over 95% of the posts on airliners.net have merrit, and are sensible posts. Its only the 5%, the stupid, pointless ones that stand out.

Hoffa WAS one of the worst ones we've had though.

The worst are the ones that turn into flame threads after other flame threads spill over into them (ie. most threads at the moment).

Did I say thread enough?

The arguments and discussions about issues are always interesting. What ruins it is when people stoop to name-calling of people they disagree with.

I personally am a right-wing conservative and have been called a white-supremacist (by a black member in this thread actually) simple for my right-wing views. Needless to say, I'm black also. He didn't know that at the time of his name-calling though.

Now if THAT wasn't a big, fat juicy flamebait, I don't know what is. We all know who you're talking about, so why even try to fake being discreet about it? I'm sure Superfly could care less.

And for the record, who cares if you're 1/8 "black", 2/3 "black", or 1/900 "black?" -A racist right-wing opinion is a racist right-wing opinion no matter whose mouth it's coming out of. (You must be mixed race because you also mentioned being Scandinavian at one time).

Those opinions, by the way, may indicate you have some deeper identity issues from your childhood though.

Jetservice, you get a pass, and one pass only, cause you seen to be a pretty decent guy on here, lol. The guy's name being "ROCK" and getting KOed symbolizes all the wannabe KROC's on the board here. Name might have the same letters, but there still not close.
