Why The Wtc?

Fri Mar 08, 2002 2:58 pm

I've been wondering why the World Trade Center have been the target of multiple terrorist attacks. It was almost like a magnet for high profile terrorist attacks.

I mean why not try for the Sears Tower or the Prudential Tower?

I'm not trying to endorse what these wackos did by any streach of the imagination. I just want to know what they had against these two nondescript office buildings.

Or why were they trying to blow up LAX on New Year's Eve 2000?

I guess no one knows...

the wtc were pretty much the nerve of our finacial center with the exception of all of wall street. you destroy the wtc you destroy our finacial symbol, you kill lots of people, and demoralize a city/country because when people think new york you think world trade centers they were supposed to be invincible. they werent supposed to be brought down by a bounch of animals like they were on sept 11. but thats their reasoning behind it all. as for LAX it;s one of the worlds busiest airports and probally the biggest airport west of the mississippi.

Almost everyone in the world knows the WTC, but not everyone knows the Sears tower and the Prudential tower. In the US they may be very well known, but outside the US these towers have little meaning.

Sears Tower = one 110 story building
World Trade Center = TWO 110 story buildings, + numerous other small buildings in the complex

Simple minds convince themselves world commerce will fall into anarchy with the removal of what appears to be a pivotal element.

If you ask me, the World Trade Center was a victim of its' own name.

Because

1. Its in the US
2. Its the centre of world trade
3. More cynically - there were two. The first crash might not get live global TV coverage but 20 minutes later, hey presto, the worlds media have arrived, so lets do it again live. Now that takes a sick mind. So sad.

>>Where is Prudential Tower?

The Prudential Tower (or "The Pru" as it known to native Bostonians) is a skyscraper owned by the Prudential Insurance Corporation. It is located in Boston, Massachusetts.

The WTC's are a symbol of wealth, power and prestige of america. It's as simple as that.

All of the answers above. Plus, it is close to an airport where a non stop flight across the country would take off with lots of fuel.
