Do You Drink Your Tap Water

Thu Mar 14, 2002 5:36 am

I do!
In Stockholm, where I live, the tap water is even cleaner (and cheeper!!!) than the water on the bottles and it tastes better too.

Our city water is very good. But when I moved out in the 'burbs', the water needed softened. But even softened its not as good as the city water. So we have one of those Brita pitchers we fill daily and put in the fridge for drinking water.

Our water comes from a disgusting and muddy reservoir, but surprisingly, the water is just fine. I drink it.

Yup, I never drank it for 5 to 6 years, just used filter water. It smelt foul, but it wasn't until we recieved a letter saying we were not in a hard water area, and that are water was first class! It tastes great, much better than the filter and bottled water!

Yes, I drink it sometimes. The tap-water here has lower pollutant-limit-values (Is this the right word!? I hope you understand it... if it's wrong, please correct me) than tablewater.

I drink my tap water sometimes. I really don't drink water that much unless I'm at school.

I don't drink the tap water here in Vancouver because it smells and tastes bad. But when I'm across the river in Portland, that is some of the best tasting water! They have it coming out of drinking fountains on the transit mall downtown. I fill up when I'm in Portland!

Yep. Anchorage has great tap water! I've had bottled water (Dasani) that tasted awful compared to our tap water.

Well, I had considered actually drinking my tap water, but I find that eating it is a lot more enjoyable.

I have no problem drinking Boston's water...even though it travels through 80 miles of aquaducts in order to get to my faucet.

Hmm... my utility district's (Lakeland I think) water isn't bad, but it sure isn't the best. In any case, I drink either bottled water or filtered tap water. You can sure taste the difference here.

I used to drink tap water here in Milwaukee, and found it much more tolerable than the tap water in my hometown of San Diego. However, I got a Brita water filter tank, and since I've been using that, tap water tastes terrible! So I don't drink tap any more, unless it's from the occasional water fountain.

Yeah, here in good old vermont it's pretty safe to drink the water. Well at least at my home. We have a well, so I do drink the tap water.

Occasionally from a drinking fountain or a little drink to take a pill or something but I generally use our filter on the faucet for water or for making lemonade in a pitcher.

I'll buy bottled water on occasion but what I really drink a lot of is Coca Cola, Dr. Pepper, and Bud Light! And I'm pretty sure the brewery and local bottlers use filtered water.

My university has it's own water plant and when I lived in university housing it was pretty nasty. The city water is pretty nasty too, although they are supposed to start drawing from out of an aquifer (sp?) soon and the test wells for that have shown very good tasting and smelling water.

The tap water in Toronto is just fine. However, Windor's tastes awful and smells in the summer.

No, I don't drink tap water because I don't trust how clean it is. My family always buy bottled water and I prefer it also. Sometimes our water can turn brown, i guess from the mud.

When I'm at my west London home I tend not to... did you know that the average glass of tapwater in London has passed through 8 other people before it gets to you. ahem.

Anyway, at my Cotswolds home I do, sort of. I pass it thru Brita filters first...

You must be joking...
Tap water in Malta is actually sea water passed through reverse osmosis. Having said that, it's extremely hard and a bit salty even after treatment. Jaqq!

Well.....Of course. I do however have a slight advantage over all you city folk. I drilled my own well. The pump is set at 441 feet and the water is exceptionally clean. I pity all you guys that drink water from reservoirs. Not that I mind bird shit and dead animals, just don't want them in my drinking water.

I drink the water that comes out of my tap and is provided by the City of Dallas. Every once in a while they claim the bacteria that indicates there's too much shit in your water is excessive at the reservoir, but no one, including myself, cares much about it. I think shit is good, especially in my water.

If any of you throughout the world want to sample this shit-water, I'll bottle some up and send it to you.

kind regards,

My tap water isn't bad, but my family likes to filter it thru a Brita filter. I love Brita filters, they make the water taste so clean and refreshing, with no worries. I absolutley hate bottled water and refuse to drink it unless it's the only thing available. It taste like sometimes the "purified" it too much with chemicals. I try to never drink out of public drinking fountains, not because of the water but because of people. There was this kid at my elementary school who would suck the nozzle, ICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! However, in Duluth, MN-up north from here (MSP), the water is exceptional, cold, clear, and delicious. Whenever I go there I bottle a few bottles to bring back!

Yup. In Singapore, I love tap water. Trouble is my parents and aunts are fussy and they boil water to drink. It still tastes good anyway. Lucky my school has water with cups.

I never really appreciated the water in MSP, until I lived in Alabama and came home for Christmas. While waiting in MSP airport, I drank the water and it tasted like candy compared to what I was drinking in AL. See, around where I lived (Auburn, AL), there were a bunch of cow pastures and out of fear of E. Coli contamination, they dumped tons of chlorine into the drinking water. It looked blue when it came out of the faucet and smelled like a swimming pool!
