I haven't eaten any really expensive dinners, but my dad has. Being treated to dinners by Presidents and VPs of electronic companies in various countries in Asia, he has had a few meals that totalled to over US$500 per person. Some of them he claims he would have rather had a big mac instead.  Big thumbs up

I've got a theory on this subject, stated simply:

In a few hours your $500 meal is a $500 crap.

About £100, for a 5 course meal at an exclusive 5 star hotel (former manor house) in the orangerie, just 3 miles from my house!

I don't know what it cost because the only time I've eaten in a pricey restaurant is when somebody else is paying!

Bernard, I like you opinion on that. My brother is always saying, "Eat it all, let your butt sort it out."

My most expensive meal was at the Redeye Grill in New York... only 30 bucks for my plate, but I got to talk Reba MacIntire there so it was great!

Reba MacIntyre? Sounds like a cheap meal! haha....just joshing.

For me.....probably a double Bic Mac combo, supersize. Musta been CAN$6. Yikes.

 Big grin

I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.

My wife and I had dinner at Nobu in Manhattan last summer. It's consistently ranked among the nation's top 20 or so restaurants. The cost? $165 for the two of us ... and worth every penny!

I dunno... a hundred bucks maybe. Not much better than a $50 dinner usually.

I don't remember the most I ever paid, but I have eaten at a 5 star restaurant; La Maisonette in Cincinnati. We did it as a part of my French class in high school, and was part of a larger field trip which cost around $30 all together. I have heard that La Maisonette is quite expensive otherwise.
I still find it amusing that the French students got to eat at a 5 star restaurant for a field trip, and the Spanish students got to eat at Don Pablo's (A chain of Mexican ,tex-mex really, restaurants in the midwest, for those that don't know)

Once spent 30 pounds for dinner with some friends when I was studying in London...

There also was a dinner in Korea where the alcohol alone was probably that much. Don't know how much it was as the big shots paid for it, but it couldn't have been cheap!

Tom
