Central Florida Classic Car Dealers

Mon Apr 08, 2002 10:39 am

Hi to all,

Since I first saw "Smokey & The Bandit" I have been carving for a 77-79 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. I'm looking for The Smokey & The Bandit Edition w/ the 6.6 Liter 400ci V8, 4-Speed, Leather, T-Tops ect...Does anyone in the Central Florida Area know any good car dealers that sell muscle cars like that? Maybee somebody like SKYTEAM, or even Superfly that knows about cars can help me?

Thanks,

David

There are classic car dealers in Florida; I've seen them advertise on ebay. Unfortunately I never made a note of their names, as I had no need. If I come across them, I can always post back here.

Having said that, you could consider finding what you want on ebay. There are a variety of Trans Ams being auctioned right now. You didn't specify if color was important and if T-tops are vital to the aquisition. However, to get an idea on pricing check out these current Trans Am auctions:

seems like you have quite a choice as well as a choice of colors.

there is an antique car dealer off of West I-4 right past downtown Orlando...you have to look for it and you will probably miss the exit once you see it.

I dunno... I would consider "classic car dealers" my last resort in a search for classic iron... More on this later. -- Now, E-bay can have nice stuff, but there's no way I'd buy a used muscle car without physcally looking at it first. By all means check out what's there and see if it's feasable to get to where the car is and check it out. -- Auto trader mags are a pretty good source of nice cars as I'd rather buy from an idividual owner...and don't be afraid to travel a bit to get the car of your dreams. -- Car shows and "swap meets" can be "mother lode" for classic muscle...lots of cars and owners ready to take cash. You may not have time to verify authenticity if that's an issue though. -- I've seen some nice stuff at classic car dealers but I consider most of them "mills". I've run across too many cars that were hastily ( cosmetically ) and often poorly restored cars that were overpriced. Dealers tend to be high. Rough cars that were painted red yesterday ( the running joke is the popular new color, "Re-sale Red" ). Doesn't hurt to look though. -- Take your time. It may take a while and a lot of driving ( or even flying ) to find the T/A you're looking for.

You pegged it Lubcha132...very perceptive! Nickel Plate Road. You probably know then that "S2" is one of their classes of Berkshire ( 2-8-4 ) steam locomotives. One of my favorites.

Orlando mainly has exotic and luxury car dealerships.

If you go to the Clearwater/Tarpon Springs/Palm Harbor area just outside of Tampa, you'll find a few there. I was at one in Tarpon Springs that was a spectacular dealership, but I forgot its name.
