Anybody Else Sick Of The Middle East Turmoil?

Thu Apr 11, 2002 2:31 am

I'm sick of what the Israelis are doing to the Palestinians.

I'm sick of what the Palestinians are doing to the Israelis.

I'm sick of comments by Sharon, Arrafat, and Bush.

It's to the point, where I'm pretty numb to any more killings, sabotage, suicide bombing, etc. The unsettling reality is that neither side really wants to stop.

If they wanna just stay there and kill each other---fine by me.

I know what you mean, but this 'conflict' isn't really new. I take an interest in what happens in the Middle East because I take a natural interest in current affairs, so I'm not really 'sick' of the Middle East (just as I am not sick of hearing/watching/reading the news elsewhere).

I suppose I just accept more readily that humans seem to be just as territorial as lions in Africa!

In the end, I do think both sides want an end, but they see differing ways of getting there. I don't want to offend anyone, but I personally think the religious beliefs that have been such a problem on both sides should just be dropped in favour of pragmatism.

How did u read my mind David B.?

I'm sick of all that crap in the middle east too. None of these people learn anything, they just carry their own personal vendetta's regardless what anyone say's. I would'nt shed any tears if that area of the world was wiped of the map tomorrow!!.

Yes, I'm tired of it too. My thinking right now is..."Last person standing, wins the war."

These people just want to be martyrs. Both sides. And it hurts me to say that since I'm Jewish. But this is ridiculous.

The foundation of Christianity is located there as well--and I don't see a contingent of Catholics, Baptists, Methodists, etc. killing each other over this Holy Land.

I hope the U.S. stops funding Israel...it's the only way they will learn a lesson. They have no economy except the one we give them.

Its gotten to the point, for me, that I just have stopped caring. I don't care if a suicide bomber blows up Israel. It happens almost every day now. It is depressing, so I just don't care. There will probably be no end to that freaking 'conflict' until the apocalypse... Alot of it is propeganda. Terrorize so you can fight. The US is using it as a way to get into Iraq, it seems. I have just stopped caring.
Sometimes I think I would like to go off and farm sheep and cows on some secluded Irish Hillside just to get away from it all...with access to A.net of course...

Every time I see the latest Mideast-violence story on TV, I have this feeling that I could have seen the precise same thing five, ten, or even twenty years ago. It's almost as if nothing ever changes in that part of the world.

I've long since given up trying to make sense of the Middle East.

If a TV newscast replayed footage from 1992 by mistake, I wonder how many people would notice.

Exactly my point. I've lost compassion for all these folks.
