Polish Newspapers In English?

Sat Apr 13, 2002 8:22 pm

Hello,

I am sorry that this question may sound stupid. Does anyone here know of any Polish newspapers in English which perhaps have websites? Any other type of Polish news websites in English you be pretty good too.

Secondly is there anyone here currently living in Poland who has followed the nationl/local news over the past week?

Thank you for any reply!

Jeremiah

www.warsawvoice.pl/ will take you to the main English language paper published in Poland. Mind you, the writing's not so good, and it only comes out once a week, but...

What's happened in the news in the last week?

Hello,

Well Lindy, my first cousin is on a cycling trip (from Switzerland to Russia) Last he was heard of, he was in Warsaw.

However he hasn't been heard of for ever a week so everyone is starting to be a little nervous. He isn't updating his website, answering his mobile phone and text messages are not being delivered. Can't contact the Swiss embassy until Monday anyway so promised my Aunt that I would at least look a little bit on the internet until. Thought that a good place to start would be Polish newspapers.

Teahan,

No civil disturbances in Warsaw this week to the best of my knowledge. Cycling in Poland is a little bit of an iffy venture. If your cousin stays off the main roads, he ought to be fine. There are a lot of great backcountry routes in Poland, and if the winter has ended it should be quite pretty. Hopefully, he's avoiding the main roads, which aren't always in great condition. This is compounded by some bad drivers and some poorly designed/maintained cars.

Warsaw and other big cities (even medium-sized cities) in Poland are sufficiently well developed--your cousin should have no problem in finding an internet cafe.

Lindy field,

Really sorry for having mixed up have mixed up usernames. Thanks for you (also thanks to all the people who emailed me and to Avion on MSN)
Seems it was a little bit of a false alert. He contacted my Aunt a few minutes ago saying everything was okay. He is now in Lithuania and his phone isn't working.

Thanks and sorry!!!!
