Language Confusion

Tue Apr 23, 2002 5:46 am

*If in the Netherlands someone wants to offer his apologies he says 'sorry hoor'. But it it very unlikely that someone in the US or the UK will accept this apologies, because it has the same pronouncement as 'sorry, whore'
*If someone in the Netherlands is fat, we call him 'dik', again you should not use this in English speaking countries since it has the same pronouncement as the word 'dick'
*A cook is called in the Netherlands 'een kok', but this job wouldn't earn you much respect in the States since it has the same pronouncement as the word 'cock'
*If an English-speaking person says the word 'cutt' in the Netherlands, people will be quite upset, since it has the same pronouncement as the Dutch word 'kut' wich is a dirty word for a certain female bodypart

does anybody knows any more language confusion with English-words and your own language?
