Hi I was just curious how many of you here are are vee-dub fans I personally am a vee-dub freak I currenty drive a 1990 Mexican Spec Golf GL (did not have time to find a German Spec) it has a 1.8L 8 valve motor with the (infamous) Digifant Fuel injection, which sucks because I cant do any engine mods because of the Digifant Injection system. It still is a Honda killer on light to light street races and I love the accelaration and handling. My future planes for my Golf is to get a G60 conversion, G60 clutch, and a motronic CIS injection system that will turn my Golf into a Honda Killer to Camero Killer now all I need is $$$.

I have a 2000 Passat. Great car, but its currently in the shop getting a new clutch. Although I drive it pretty hard, I can't seem to think that the clutch is a little less than it should be for the car. I've read that in other VWs they've gone out as early at 10-15k miles.

Yes the clutch is a minus on all VW's because of the fact that VW's have a self adjusting clutch that stiffens it up wich means the wear out five times faster than a clutch in any other car. Mine went out at 117K but I put it in my self so it cost me cheap because I work on my own car I dont trust shops plus its a lot funner working on it yourself.

That would mean in other cars it would last for more than 1.250.000km when judging by mine...  Wink/being sarcastic

I wish that they had offered a diesel version of the VW Country in the US.

My brother and his wife have 2 VWs.

A 2000 Passat GLS 1.8T and a 2000 Golf GLS 2.0.

Both great cars.

I love VW's. Might be buying a new one this fall, a new Jetta Wagon TDI most likely.

I have a 1997 Jetta TDI with 156,000 km, and I haven't had to replace the clutch. My dad drives a 2001 Passat 1.8T. Both cars have been extremely trouble free, and they both feel safe and secure even at high speeds. True German cars for reasonable prices.
