This might be thought of as "off topic" but I don't think it is....
I was going to get an Audi A4 over the past couple of months. After many thoughts, and my 2001 V6 Camry being traded in for it, my mind was set on the Audi A4. However as I was driving over to the other side of town thinking about my decision, I saw a Volkswagen dealer with a "Test Drive" sign out in the front lawn. The dealer is very reputable, so I pulled in and got out. The guy was very friendly and he let me do the talking, which was very nice. I told him I was in the market for a new car to replace the Camry with because I wanted something different (however I still love the Camry). He asked me what kind of car/power I was looking for. I told him I was in the market for an entry-level luxury vehicle. He took me into the back room since they were letting people drive the Jetta, and showed me the 2001.5 model Passat with 170hp Tiptronic engine. I was looking for a manual, but they only had those in the V6 in stock. He let me sit inside, and look around in it. I fell in love. The bigger body, smother corners, the Passat is an all around sharp car. I got quite interested in this Passat. He told me that the older 2001 models had a 150hp engine, while this one had a 170ph because the 2001.5 Passat got all new parts for everything in the car except the doors and the roof. Anyway, he let me take HIS sons 1.8 Turbo with 10k miles on it. He went with me because he didn't feel like doing a license check or anything. I just had to leave my keys to the Toyota there. Anyways since it did have 10k miles on it, he encouraged me to treat it like I was an aggressive driver.
This car rocked! The cornering was very nice, normal riding was very smooth, and the Tiptronic system was very nice on this car. It was weird not using a clutch though. I fell in love with this car. After 30 minutes of hard use, I noticed that the gas meter barley went down. He said it was also fuel-efficient. The dealer also told me the V6 was available for me to test drive, but he said, as well as many other car review magazines that the v6 was just a tad better in terms of performance. I told him that the turbo lag didn't bother me. From that moment on, I have been hooked. I called the Audi dealer and told them to sell the car to someone else. 1/3 of my buy depends on how helpful the sales people were, how non-aggressive they were towards me, and if they shoved inferior products my way. This guy told it like it is. The 2001.5 VW Passat is going to be mine tomorrow. That's when I say bye Camry, hello Passat. Although the one thing I hate about it is that no CD player comes standard, however it's okay because I was going to replace it anyways...
If your in the market for a Audi, check out VW too because I bet you will enjoy saving thousands of dollars and spending it on a trip, or school, or on a house.
