I love Audi. Here in North America, they are underrated, but that is good, because they seem to get away from the image problems that are sometimes associated with Mercedes and especially BMW, while being nearly as good. Audi makes some of the best interiors (puts Mercedes to shame), and Quattro is great for those in the snow belt!

I wish I could afford an Audi, but maybe one day! I would buy an A4 2.5 TDI as an everyday car if I could get my hands on one here in North America! Now that would be awesome  Smile

Audi's are real nice! I love the look of the A6, and of course, the TT.

In respects to comparing it between a company like Mercedes...it can't touch Mercedes. The interior of an Audi might be nice but I disagree that it beats Mercedes. Also, the interiors of Audi's are, from what I have seen, very similar to those of VWs. It's nice to have the pure originality from Mercedes.

I like Audi's a lot. They do have one minor fault. A trait common to most German cars. They have intricate electrical systems that tend to break at the worst possible moment. However, I would love to have an Audi A4 or A8. For some reason the A6 just doesn't do it for me, nor does the TT.

I liked mine up until it started to give me a lot of problems. Now it's a love/hate relationship like an old marriage. I would consider buying another one though.

I have an 01 A4 and a 02 C230 Kompressor, the price was very similar. The 230 has a bigger engine but the 1.8 T feels just as powerful they did real good hiding the turbo lag. The Audi is FWD and the C230 is RWD.

The Audi is just as comfortable inside and a bit more user friendly than the c230. However, I strongly prefer RWD especially since I live in Southern CA and seldom have any weather.....

Anyway, great car. Great service and how can you beat German design???

Well, I think we've had 3 Audi's so far, and are probably going to get a TT (don't know about that, its either that or a Merc C-class coupe which i don't like so much, but I think the TT is kinda ugly also).

I think at first, we had an Audi 80, that was cool. Then a 1989 Audi 90, which was cool also!! Most recent was a 1995 Audi A4 1.8ST, which I loved the most. It felt very powerful, quite comfortable although the seats were a bit hard. Gadgets were cool, and it was all well built.

My S4 is my baby and I wouldn't get rid of it for anything - even a BMW M3.

I owned a 97 A4 1.8T Quattro

Terrific car to modify.

I had some work done.... mostly suspension. I had 18" BBS RC wheels 245/40 ZR18'sm, Baer brake kit, I dropped it 4" with coil over suspension.

I had an Air/liquid intercooler installed and had 17 pounds of boost with a Delta gate and a blow off valve. Larger fuel injestors and a larger fuel pump.

Sweeeeeeet ride. Extremely fast and the handling was amazing.

Audi makes a terrific car.

My mom gave me her A6 as my first car earlier this year. It was a 98 but some redneck hit me and it got totaled. Now I have a old acura. I want another Audi. WOW, that car was great.

I've loved Audis since the ground-breaking 5000 (100 in Europe) came out in 1984. I thought it was the most beautiful car on the road. I know they were mechanical nightmares, but I drove a couple of them, and they were wonderful cars to drive. The newer models are awesome, and great cars. Also, Audi's Quattro models can't be beat for their traction and handling. It's too bad Audi suffered such a setback in reputation with the whole unintended acceleration scandals in the late '80s - just a bunch of dumb people who couldn't figure out which pedal was which, and they sued the manufacturer.

I'd take an Audi A6 or A8 any day!

This might be thought of as "off topic" but I don't think it is....

I was going to get an Audi A4 over the past couple of months. After many thoughts, and my 2001 V6 Camry being traded in for it, my mind was set on the Audi A4. However as I was driving over to the other side of town thinking about my decision, I saw a Volkswagen dealer with a "Test Drive" sign out in the front lawn. The dealer is very reputable, so I pulled in and got out. The guy was very friendly and he let me do the talking, which was very nice. I told him I was in the market for a new car to replace the Camry with because I wanted something different (however I still love the Camry). He asked me what kind of car/power I was looking for. I told him I was in the market for an entry-level luxury vehicle. He took me into the back room since they were letting people drive the Jetta, and showed me the 2001.5 model Passat with 170hp Tiptronic engine. I was looking for a manual, but they only had those in the V6 in stock. He let me sit inside, and look around in it. I fell in love. The bigger body, smother corners, the Passat is an all around sharp car. I got quite interested in this Passat. He told me that the older 2001 models had a 150hp engine, while this one had a 170ph because the 2001.5 Passat got all new parts for everything in the car except the doors and the roof. Anyway, he let me take HIS sons 1.8 Turbo with 10k miles on it. He went with me because he didn't feel like doing a license check or anything. I just had to leave my keys to the Toyota there. Anyways since it did have 10k miles on it, he encouraged me to treat it like I was an aggressive driver.
This car rocked! The cornering was very nice, normal riding was very smooth, and the Tiptronic system was very nice on this car. It was weird not using a clutch though. I fell in love with this car. After 30 minutes of hard use, I noticed that the gas meter barley went down. He said it was also fuel-efficient. The dealer also told me the V6 was available for me to test drive, but he said, as well as many other car review magazines that the v6 was just a tad better in terms of performance. I told him that the turbo lag didn't bother me. From that moment on, I have been hooked. I called the Audi dealer and told them to sell the car to someone else. 1/3 of my buy depends on how helpful the sales people were, how non-aggressive they were towards me, and if they shoved inferior products my way. This guy told it like it is. The 2001.5 VW Passat is going to be mine tomorrow. That's when I say bye Camry, hello Passat. Although the one thing I hate about it is that no CD player comes standard, however it's okay because I was going to replace it anyways...

If your in the market for a Audi, check out VW too because I bet you will enjoy saving thousands of dollars and spending it on a trip, or school, or on a house.

Peace In

I do!

I have had two; my first, a 4000 (80 in the rest of the world) which was plain bulletproof, I sold it with 160,000 + miles, and it was solid as a rock then.

And the 100S which followed (a '93), which gave its life that I might live- a crunch into a big ol' Ford Bronco.

I darned near got a new A6 4.2 quattro- sometimes wish I had- but instead, got my current Cadillac, which I also love.

Bu I bet my next car has a quattro badge on it!

I was at a car race for street cars at Limerock Park a few weeks ago. There were quite a few S4's on the track. One guy had an ongoing grudgematch with a newer Porsche 911 (non-turbo). Both cars seemed to be very well driven but I was surprised at the fact that the guy in the Porsche just couldn't shake the Audi. Lap after lap the Audi was sniffing the Porsch's tail.

Oh yeah, I'd kill for a S6!

My mom has a 2000 Audi A6 2.5 TDI and it is a really nice car, beautiful leather interior and that V6 turbodiesel engine sounds soo cool!

Seems like the S4 is a sweet piece of machinery with different rims. I think the standard rims look too standard on a car of the S4's caliber.

I hate Audi owners.

They make me jealous.

Cuz I want an A4 like nothing else.

But I have no money.  Sad

So, I bought a Ford Escape instead. All wheel drive/4WD (which I demand because of my snowboarind hobby), and an affordable price tag. But, it's really only a stop gap car until I can afford an A4.

The new 2002 model Audi A4's are nice, especially the FWD models with the Multitronic CVT automatic.

Now, if Audi builds an A4 Avant with Multitronic for the US market, I'll buy it in a heartbeat.  Big thumbs up

Let's just hope that the multitronic is reliable!!! It looks like it should be, with less parts, etc, but you never know. I'd give it some time before I purchased a car with the multitronic.

The RS6 is interesting..but hardly an M5.

My best friend recently got an A6 2.7T---it seemed nice except for the incredible tourque pull on the wheel during hard acceleration.

Oh..and that whole bit in the owner's manual about having to let the car cool down if you've been driving fast...

The part in the owner's manual about letting the car cool down would apply to any turbocharged engine. If you drive a turbocharged car, and it doesn't say it in the owner's manual, you should still let the car cool down for at least 30 seconds after hard driving. Turbos can be great, but they require lots of care, but if they are cared for, they will be reliable.

Greg - alot of high performance cars have that warning. As Captaingomes says, we didn't have it on our A4 (although we couldn't go above 4500RPM until we'd done 2500 miles in it, as to not to damage a new turbo). But we did have it on our Subaru Impreza, which required us to idle the engine for 90seconds at least after long periods of motorway driving, although a car as fast as that doesn't often have to make journeys that last long  Big thumbs up
